Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Not a problem, he has a cute little V6. :p ;)

At least its not one of those so-called Mustangs that Ford dropped a fourbanger in. My brother had one of those, biggest peace of crap ever. Call it the Wusstang, because it had no balls.

Took me a good half hour or so today to chip enough ice off of my car to see out of it, and to get the drivers side door open as well. Thankfully, it didn't ice up much on the passenger side, so I was able to get in it and get it started to have the car help me in melting stuff off of it. Thankfully, I really didn't have much else to do today besides needing to go out and get gas. Got about 2 inches of a ice/sleet mix on top of our snow here. And we was knocked out of power for a good 6 hours or so this morning as well. Would have rather have gotten a foot of snow instead of all this ice.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Often wondered the very same. Though now the 6 cylinder matches the horses of the old V8s. Still...gotta have that American V8...nothing sounds quite like it...they're music to the motorheads ears.
If people are going to get a V6, they may as well go the lux route. Performance cars need V8's... period.

Especially if you plan on power mods as I always install. I agree, and all Mustangs V8s respond very well to power modifications. The greatest tuner car to ever come out of Detriot IMO.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Needed 4WD, as usual (due to the Wrangler being a cube on wheels), but got around fine. Of course, all the roads were at least half-plowed. 394/494 had a nice packed layer of snow with a touch of mushy snow over most of the road, so really couldn't go 60mph, but you could go 45-50 pretty easily.

At least it finally stopped snowing a little while ago. Way to call that one, Weather Terrorists (it was originally supposed to stop around lunchtime).

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

And the TC metro area is now 2.5" or so from breaking the total season snowfall record. With March still to go.

So that is why 511mn.org is claiming difficult driving conditions still. When I first saw it this evening, I thought "w t f? they had all day to plow!".

At my place, it looked like it stopped snowing around 8-8:30ish tonight. It was still pretty heavy until around 3ish, although not like yesterday.

And more snow coming on Wed! Woohoo!

But down to about slot number 8 on the list of cars I'd chose out of Detroit. There are many bowties and mopars I'd much rather have than any stang.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

We got a taste of the storm driving out of St. Paul yesterday. Once we got to the point where 35E and 35W merge the snow stopped and the roads were clear. The wind is insane though. It destroyed a sign on I-35 near Proctor, and wreaked a bit of havoc with the lift bridge.

Yeah - the wind in Duluth was crazy yesterday. We drove over and stayed in Two Harbors, then drove up to Grand Portage and back to Bemidji today. I saw that winds yesterday in Duluth were 40+ mph straight-line and a gust was recorded at 67 mph.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

1) At least $5,000 cheaper on the purchase price
2) At least 20% better gas mileage
3) Much cheaper to insure

Over the lifetime of the car I'll probably save a minimum of $15k

4) It was all I could afford in college
5) It was the perfect color, design, etc.
6) The opportunity was there
7) I got a very nice deal on it since we knew the sellers

1. How many times will you be stuck/have trouble with snow/weather?
2. How does it feel to be a eunuch?
3. What other options in a similar vehicle did you pass up for the same price (unless it's a favorite/"dream" vehicle; that I can understand).
4. Does gas mileage really matter in your case?

My answers for my vehicle:
1. None, if you include the 4WD option.
2.N/A
3. Front-wheel drive, passenger/luggage room. When I bought it, I never imagined the road trips I'd be taking. But it was a top realistic favorite vehicle, so as my note says, those cancel each other out. ;)
4. It does not. I fill up every week to week-and-a-half. Yes, it did factor into my purchase.

1. Two days in the nearly eight years I've owned the car.
2. The proper term for the car is a gelding.
3. It was as close to a dream car as I was going to get in college. I've always been a huge mustang fan and of this color specifically. Plus it had the pony package upgrades.
4. Yes, oh God yes. I drive almost 100 miles a day to and from work.

Fair enough. I suggest you buy a $300 POS car for winter. And I still prefer the term "eunuch."

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Saw a guy propped up at a 45 degree angle against a snowbank on 169 tonight.

four wheel drive = four wheel slide :)

Meh. I've had the mustang for 8+ years now. Gotten stuck twice. I was able to rock my way out in one instance. Today I needed help. All in all, not work the $300.

I was slipping a bit on one of the side roads. Had to resort to the "close enough to the lane" technique. Had people following me. It was my civic duty. ;) The road was all mush. Sorta plowed, but lots of ruts, etc. Ones that "push" cars into other ruts.

Shh...the car nerds are pretending to sound cool without reading what you are saying! :p

People can mock my car all they like (I know I do) but I paid it off, and it has had one major issue in the 7 years I have had it. It may not pump the car nerds balls like other cars do, but guess what, I am perfectly happy with the size of my...engine ;)

Did they send you off with a complimentary wave, too?
