Entire city of Yellowknife needs to be evacuated by tomorrow at noon due to fires.

not a huge city but it is the capital of Northwest Territories. And it’s not near civilization so evacuating 20k people from a place so remote is challenging

Not to mention it’s where anyone from a remote area goes for services, medical especially.

Looking at things, the roads are open but Hay River also has fires nearby. Commercial flights are available but Air Canada and WestJet ain’t cheap, no idea for Canada North.

RCAF is already staging for a military airlift.

BTW I'm in Seattle right now and it is a bit smokey from the BC fires. My friend in SpoCompton said the aqi there is in the 400s.
