Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2016-2017 (aka Season 20)
The first period today was interesting: it was total domination, except the teams alternated controlling play. At any given moment, one of them was really struggling to get it out of their end. The Gophers probably had the better of the play, but not by much.
Minnesota dominated the second and third, though. The second wasn't as overwhelming as the 13-0 official shot margin, but the third was probably more so than the 24-7 shots. The Gophers had a lot of pucks that could have gone in, but instead rolled just wide or through the crease. On the whole, they played really well. I'd really like to see some scoring outside the first line, but if they keep generating chances like they did today, that should come.
I continue to be very impressed with the whole freshman class. Kippin Keller hadn't gotten a lot of ice time prior to today, but she got put on the second line and looked good.
