Spot them two goals, but interesting 2nd period. I thought we played well that period. To me we're making a lot of mistakes, but UND causes a lot of them and can make you pay for them. Need to play really hard without getting frustrated, and I don't think we can allow them any decent scoring chances!

Well, I wish we would have won. But all in all that was a great game!

I think it was a pretty darn good performance by the Gophs considering that 2-0 start!

Not positive but I thought that on all four goals the last contact on the puck before it went into the net was by a Gopher player.

Two goals for Cameranesi and two own goals for Skarzynski.

I was pleased with our performance Friday and thought it was a really good game despite giving up the early lead.

I didn't love our performance yesterday. I thought UND played really well. They are a big team and they used that to their advantage. We made a bunch of slow lazy passes and the way the Fighting Hawks were playing passing needed to be crisper and more decisive. Weekends like this are good because it reminds the Gophers that sometimes if you don't play good enough to win you don't get to win.

Maybe we should start playing 15 minute first periods and just spot the opponent one goal.

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2016-2017 (aka Season 20)

shouldn't the headline on the Gophersports site be :

Gophers settle for second straight shootout win.
rather than:
Gophers earn second straight shoot-out win.

Well they did have to come from behind in both games to "earn" the opportunity to win each shootout.

GWH fans may want to check out some highlight reel goals scored by Amy Potomak. Scroll down a bit to view each clip. You'll find that most feature her.

Thanks, so starved for goals we have to watch next years players.
Well we are 2nd in the conference, just 3 behind Wisconsin with each having played 12 games. And overall we're just 1 goal behind despite playing one less game. But I would agree that going forward we will need more production out of the second and third lines.

And then there's former players. Congratulations to Nina Rodgers on her goal and two assists last night in BU's win over Princeton. She's averaging about a point a game so far. I felt that she'd do well out there given more playing time.

Nice 4-0 win today. BSU decided to not stick with the shell game. They also abandoned all the holding and interference that worked so well for them at home. The result was a lot more interesting game but probably not what they wanted.

BSU makes sure there is a body on a body all the time. Nothing dirty or dangerous just very physical and thats ok.

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2016-2017 (aka Season 20)

The first period today was interesting: it was total domination, except the teams alternated controlling play. At any given moment, one of them was really struggling to get it out of their end. The Gophers probably had the better of the play, but not by much.

Minnesota dominated the second and third, though. The second wasn't as overwhelming as the 13-0 official shot margin, but the third was probably more so than the 24-7 shots. The Gophers had a lot of pucks that could have gone in, but instead rolled just wide or through the crease. On the whole, they played really well. I'd really like to see some scoring outside the first line, but if they keep generating chances like they did today, that should come.

I continue to be very impressed with the whole freshman class. Kippin Keller hadn't gotten a lot of ice time prior to today, but she got put on the second line and looked good.

I hope Alex Woken is okay. The stats don't show it, but I thought she was coming on in recent weeks. She didn't play after getting checked into the boards early today.

DId you think that that deserves checking from behind? I thought so but figured they didn't drop the bomb on Joyce because she didn't slam into Woken only shoved her, but it was from behind & in the 'danger zone'

There was also a very dangerous trip in the third period that sent someone head first into the end boards. There isn't a five minute penalty in the books for that, but that could easily have been concussion or separated shoulder.

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2016-2017 (aka Season 20)

So last night in Madison, one of the biggest cheers of the night came when they announced that the Beavers had beaten Minnesota 4-0... only to be followed by a nearly equally loud groan a few minutes later when they announced "correction.... Minnesota won 4-0."

Next weekend's going to be fun!
