Minnesota @ Wisconsin: 2/6 & 2/7

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin: 2/6 & 2/7

Hope Jake Bischoff is ok. He really got his clock rocked in what probably should have been a penalty. Didn't watch the replay though.

I'm not so sure. When it happened, I thought the same thing, but after checking out a replay at home, I think it was a clean hit. He did get his bell rung, that's for sure.

The McCabe hit was another story - clearly deserved the DQ, and he may end up sitting out the next game.

Really, the intensity of the physical play on Friday was encouraging overall, and I thought the Badgers were far and away the more physical team. It was fun to watch!

Its risky to try to take that level of physical play on the road though...refs look at it a bit differently.

...and McCabe also should have gotten clear 5 minutes for it too.

The Soleway hit on Bischoff wasn't dirty, but could be argued as late. I'm not going to argue it though, seen those go both ways.

Bischoff should have kept his head on a swivel and not been admiring his pass.

I keep clicking on this post but nothing is happening. :(

Sticking it to Brent in the run-up this week the only thing really missing for several Badger posters. Can't have everything I suppose.

Occurs to me that if the UM's can manage to split their four games and the Badgers can carry a little momentum forward the B1G could wind up a pretty close finish.

Awwww, you're making me blush. :p

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin: 2/6 & 2/7

This.

Another disappointing result. Hard to understand how the Gophers could come out so hard and then get their wind taken out by a shot from near the blue line. But as someone said, this will be the Badgers' highlight of the year, I'll wait until the NCAA Tourney for ours.

On a side note, I find it ironic that the fans were chanting overrated considering they were picked to be so good at the beginning of the year.

Congrats on puck luck and one player (Rumpel) winning the game for you guys.

Judging by your recent NCAA record it may be a longer wait than you think. When the Badgers get in their pretty good and make some good deep runs. That's what being good in goal and ugly hockey does for you in March and April. Ask the 19 Badgers playing in the NHL now and 4 at the Olympics about that.

Take it easy. Finally leaving the basement at Chez Rube probably has you in a bit of a fragile state emotionally so just try to keep it even. One day at a time, you know? :p

Here's a vid of McCabe's hit on Rau Hard to tell if his feet actually leave the ice or not. Right might remain planted. Or not.

EDIT: Ugh. Link went wonky. Should be fixed.

A late hit isn't Jake's fault for not seeing it coming. I have a bad feeling about the outcome of that one.

Did Lucia request a replay on the Rau hit? Guy didn't even drop his stick. How long will Rau be out?

Rau played the rest of the game. Is he now out injured?

I saw Rau's skills on that embellishment call in the first. Guy's a genius. Fact is, after McCabe lit him up he wasn't actually even on the ice the rest of the way.

That's right. It was

Well, if it had to happen, Rau would be my first choice of a target - the little puke.

He's like Shaw on the Blackhawks. You love him on your team - you want him dead when he's on the other team.

PS - For the benefit of BigAl, I don't really want him dead. Maimed maybe, but not dead.

Just because they gave him an embellishment penalty earlier, it doesn't mean that he was shaken up. Pretty sure YOU wouldn't be popping right up after that hit. Justify it how you want, the hit was dirty and it will be a well earned suspension. Not to mention if you watch hockey especially in the NHL, you see it happen a lot when players emphasize the fact that there was a penalty, not talking diving, but when someone touches their face after a high sticking for example. Oh that's right you don't have an NHL team.

Between you trying to justify McCabe's high, dirty hit and Gurt saying he's happy/wants Rau injured, you're all quite the classy bunch.

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin: 2/6 & 2/7

Relax, it's the internets and Gurt and Wisko mean no harm, now I will wash my mouth out with paint thinner. :)

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin: 2/6 & 2/7

Just rewatched the game on the DVR...Rumple got away with one at the start of the third. He pretty much tackled (Kloos I think?).
