Because there is a difference between predictions and gambling. You would take any bet at even odds if that is what you thought would happen?
Back in college I took a course called "Games and Strategy" and an integral component was learning how to use "expected monetary value" (EMV) in betting situations. I'm not a gambling man at all, but if I was I would use this methodology whenever possible! Example here:

Getting back to Minnesota vs. St. Cloud State and our little discussion, since there is no money at risk EMV does not come into play as there is no monetary reward, or risk. We're each fans of our respective teams, and on a forum such as this it's just good fun to shout out what we think (hope?) will happen.

Anyway I've watched the Gophers play all three of their games (including the exhibition) and there is no doubt that they are improved over last season. How much is of course still to be determined, it's early and the level of competition they've faced so far is not what they'll be up against this weekend. But they should be very motivated to make amends after their poor showing last season against their in-state rivals, so if they do lose either tonight or tomorrow it will most certainly NOT be due to a lack of effort.

Should be a great series, and again with no money at stake I'll your "bet" as outlined above! :)

I have no doubt that there will be plenty of Gopher fans lamenting the lack of effort if they do lose. Glad to see you are eliminating that excuse.

This weekend is a great test for both teams. Not much can be revealed about a team by playing the Alaska schools. St Cloud starting the season 0-4 against teams that they might be fighting for a spot in the NCAAs would be pretty damaging to their chances of making the tournament. I am sure we will see both teams' best.

That's because no SCSU fan really has that intra conference hatred of the Gophers anymore. Add to that, the Gophers have been leading a lousy B1G Mistake, while still failing to make it into the NCAAs, and it's turned into more of an interest from afar - if there is any at all.

TL,DR = the Gophers aren't good anymore

You must mean brokeback, yeah I remember that guy.

Pretty sure he is the bus driver of the helmet kids, crappy pay but he fits in so well.

Who is going to get the B1G's one NCAA bid this year? Michigan again?

I was told tOSU is supposed to be much improved this year. But Michigan fans say they are determined to win the final college hockey game at Joe Louis Arena, though so there's that.

I got Minnesota winning the regular season title, you're on your own after that....

He is alive and well! I have been out of the country most of the year. Following but from long distance.

Huskies have their backs up against a wall early this year. Mankato is a solid team, but starting the year 0-4 in non-conference could be devastating in the pairwise. Hopefully the Olympic ice will be of assistance in one of the 2 games and Huskies manage a split. I think Motzko will have them ready.

In past years, BTN2GO has delayed broadcast of FSN games until after midnight. Yet on BTN2GO, message says 'game will start at or around start time'. Anyone know when the stream starts for sure?

Gophers leading the Huskies 1-0 after the first period. SCSU was looking good up until the Gopher goal. :|
