Minnesota vs Jan Brady State (home and home) Nov 18th-19th

Re: Minnesota vs Jan Brady State (home and home) Nov 18th-19th

The Gophers play fast and they play physical. They are also very well conditioned. The Gophers have had their way with teams in the third period on Saturdays because of it.
What's their differential now for the 3rd period? +20? +21?

Re: Minnesota vs Jan Brady State (home and home) Nov 18th-19th

Yeah they busted out some stat on FSN that pretty much says we are #1 in the WCHA in the 3rd period for scoring.

Not sure if this includes tonight's game or not:

Score by Period 1 2 3 ot Tot.
Minnesota 18 18 24 1 61
Opponent 6 14 4 0 24

Re: Minnesota vs Jan Brady State (home and home) Nov 18th-19th

Over the past three or four seasons, I'd say the UND series has been bigger for me. I won't speak for anyone else.

If you told me MN would be swept by one of the following: UND, WI, SCSU, I'd choose not UND. Every time.

Re: Minnesota vs Jan Brady State (home and home) Nov 18th-19th

This felt good to see them bounce back. Since I don't get BTN and therefore didn't see the Sat. game last week, I saw two losses with poor performances in a row. The losses were different games. Against Wis., they just didn't show up and got outhustled to most pucks. Against SCSU, they actually were moving their feet and had good puck possession for much of the first and third, but made horrible turnovers and defensive miscues, and just seemed out of synch with the number of passes into feet or complete misses. I would like to see another complete weekend out of them next week.

Probably makes sense given UM has not been at their best in recent past. I think that's a major factor why UND has become the stronger UM rival the past 2 decades despite the obvious WI-MN ties in so many other ways.

Tonight's game I watched online. FSN airs their Director's Cut online, and you're watching 8 screens at once and hear the director and assistants chattering away behind the scenes. It's not a good viewing experience, the screens jump around a lot, but it's better than not getting the game at all.

Re: Minnesota vs Jan Brady State (home and home) Nov 18th-19th

Except for last night. How convenient.

I'll admit I didn't see the game last night, but watching the highlights, I was surprised. Silly me, when I heard you guys all talking about how you gift-wrapped all the goals for us, I was naive enough to think that we really showed almost no skill on those goals. Give me a break. Yeah, I have no idea what you guys were doing focusing on one player on a PP, but everytime you guys made mistakes, SCSU showed skill, smarts, and finished. So sorry that they didn't brick the opportunities they were given.

Ummm no and no.

The Gophers played pretty well in general on Friday. They certainly did NOT quit or show a lack of heart (as evidenced by the two goal comeback in the third to make it close, in case you are as obtuse as you seem to be). They did make some very boneheaded mistakes. I don't think anyone from the Gopher side claimed the Huskies showed no skill, but they WERE capitalizing on Gopher mis-plays, not creating on their own.

Re: Minnesota vs Jan Brady State (home and home) Nov 18th-19th

Interesting that, in my opinion, St. Cloud played a better game up and down the ice tonight and did a better job of executing a game plan. They bottled the Gophers up a few times and applied sustained pressure for longer stretches than they did last night.
The Gophers getting the first lead was important, but they also did a much better job of reducing the number of poor decisions in the defensive end and collapsing back in front of Patterson when things got tense.

Disappointed with only 2 points, but pleased to see the PP click better than it has the past 5-6 games. That is going to be extremely important for the Gophers' success.

I liked the line changes. I don't think it made much of a tangible difference tonight, but I like it on principle. The Gophers had lost 2 of the last 3, and it was good to show these guys that despite putting together a good start, nothing is set and they can't get complacent.

And congrats to Bjugstad and Patterson. It's a shame that we won't get to see them play in the Maroon and Gold after this season, but that just means we need to appreciate and enjoy watching them play now.

Re: Minnesota vs Jan Brady State (home and home) Nov 18th-19th

What a great night.

Beat the Huskies 5-0. Patterson gets the shutout record while I'm in attendance. Bought Nanne's book there and it's signed. Added another Gopher Hockey Puck to my collection. Over 50 now easily.

Gophers keep pace. Home and Home I'll take two points every time. Would have liked to have more, but they got the two and at least they showed up in their loss unlike their opponent who didn't even make it to the rink tonight.

Re: Minnesota vs Jan Brady State (home and home) Nov 18th-19th

Would have liked to be able to watch the game tonight. *******in Charter. Tune in to FCSC for the game and get an error meesage channel will be up shortly and 30 minutes later the same message is still there, then switch to 980 the FSN alternate and get the same message.

Have seen the last 3 games without LeBlanc prior to tonight and he is definitely missed. He has shown a ton of improvement with his puck handling and is a great decision maker. Faragher has played well also, but Lee is missed.

two points is two points no matter how each team plays scooby

Not really. If the Gophers had gotten two points out of the weekend but had lost one of the games 5-0 I'd be in Scooby meltdown mode right now. I think it's called, "seasonal manic depressive attitude". Where is that Harley guy, anyway?

With this I agree....seemed to have a positive impact on the effort.
