Minnesota vs Jan Brady State (home and home) Nov 18th-19th

Re: Minnesota vs Jan Brady State (home and home) Nov 18th-19th

Yeah, St. Cloud needs to learn how to finish off a team. They should have won going away at 6 - 1, 7 -1 or more. Motzko seems to like to go into defensive mode in the third period whenever they have a multi-goal lead after two periods. Wish he would just challenge them to go get WINGS for the crowd!

I agree this is an on going problem with Motzko coached teams and I don't like...... The Motzko stall let the Gophers back in the game.

Man that Gopher defense is great, the Huskies didn't have a chance...:D Funny how the defense doesn't looks so good when they are actually playing a decent team.:D

Re: Minnesota vs Jan Brady State (home and home) Nov 18th-19th

hey tommyboy, all MN fans have dammed the MN D tonight. Keep smoking that crack, though.

Re: Minnesota vs Jan Brady State (home and home) Nov 18th-19th

Bad defensive effort or not, SCSU did what they needed to win the game. No excuses from my perspective. The Gophers had opportunities to keep the game closer defensively as well as put a few more home, but they weren't robbed they were beat. Sucks, but it will happen in the WCHA - especially on the road. Like the Husky squad and sorry that you lost LeBlanc (sp?). Here's hoping the Gophers do more tomorrow night

Someone that gets it and isn't going to make excuses, well done. Did the Gophers D make mistakes that led to Huskies goals? Absolutely. Did the Huskies D make mistakes that led to grade A Gopher chances? Absolutely. Did the "best" goalie in the WCHA step up and make any saves he shouldn't? No. Did the freshman Faragher? Yes. The problem with all the excuse making for the mistakes the Gopher D made is that the Huskies D also made quite a few mistakes that led to either odd man rushes or great chances for the gophers. The Huskies skill players outproduced the gopher skill players and Faragher outplayed Patterson by a pretty wide margin. Was a great game to be at and should be another good game tomorrow. Bjugstad is scary good and the Huskies need to make sure they have someone on him at ALL times.

How about that stop Faragher made on a goofer during one of their third period PP? Just nasty. Highlight reel material. Tonight College Hockey News already posted a post-game blog article about Faragher.

Could you honestly make more excuses and not give an ounce of credit to the other team? I understand you so desparately want to believe that SCSU could never compete with your beloved gophers but the degree to which you are taking this is getting a little sad. Watching the replay right now and just before the 1st goal Bjustad had a breakaway all alone and Faragher stopped him. Rau even had a shot from right in front on that same rush but to no avail. Huskies had 3 guys forechecking and pressing which allowed them to take advantage of the mistake and bury their chance.

He also stoned Budish twice at the very end of the second. Faragher was great.

I've said Fegereregereretrr played well. And I've also said that SCSU finished every opportunity that MN handed them (quite a lot of them, btw). SCSU didn't have to WORK for this win. They DID capitalize on opportunity. Small, but technical difference. A "nuance" if you will.

I want to make excuses, but I can't. Unlike Fri at UW the Gophers actually played fairly well tonight, but fact is they didn't get the job done and instead SCSU did - to their full credit. I will say this though despite the butt-hurt reaction this will cause for some fans, I do expect the Gophers to finish more efficiently tomorrow night. I guess that makes me arrogant, but que sera, sera.

Re: Minnesota vs Jan Brady State (home and home) Nov 18th-19th

1. Totally agreed. The MN D gift-wrapped 3.5 of SCSU's 4 goals.
2. Not really. I hold him responsible for .5 goals. Bad rebound he gave up. And then the guy sitting there all alone shoots and scores.
3. Agreed.

MN's D was HORRID. HORRID. And the offense, until the last 3 minutes, regressed horribly. Multiple odd-man rushes, and they couldn't come close to hitting the net. Easiest SCSU win this year, guaranteed. They appeared on the ice. That was all the effort they really needed. Embarrassing performance by MN.

Now, I know all you had to do was hit the net to score the 4 goals by SCSU, and that they did.

Funny, because these posts sound drastically different. Maybe you've changed your mind. Pretty sure you also said Todd Bouman (and yourself) could've finished off those goals. While possibly true the same could've been said for some of the gopher chances tonight, thankfully we had a goalie there to stop them.

And I gave credit, but apparently unless I bow down and get down on my knees like a Muslim, it's not enough.

Sorry, no can do. I gave credit where credit is due. If one can't accept that, then bite me.

Good game Huskies, hopefully you storm into Mariucci tomorrow and come home with a sweep.

Re: Minnesota vs Jan Brady State (home and home) Nov 18th-19th

Congrats on the natl championship cloud....hang a banner or something....

Hey now Wes, as you clearly saw tonight, our rafters are pretty empty.

Huskies played well and capitalized for 2 periods. The Gophers owned the 3rd and sure made it interesting. How many times do the Huskies need to **** the bed in the 3rd before we learn to keep the foot on the gas and to continue the forecheck?

Bjustad is a beast. Probably the best power forward in college hockey this year. I thought Rau was off a little tonight(besides his tap-in off the rebound) they did a good job keeping him outside.

Ok, here it is spelled out, since no one can comprehend anything if they are from/are a fan of/are related to SCSU.

1. MN screwed up multiple times.
2. SCSU took advantage, as easy as it was.
3. SCSU didn't HAVE to put in an effort to win. It was that easy.
4. They won, by taking advantage of those mistakes. Kudos. They didn't brick.
5. Lou Ferrigno played well enough to win. Good for him. He wasn't outstanding, but he got the job done. Made the saves he needed to. Got lucky a few times (and what goalie doesn't get lucky from time to time? No harm, no foul).
6. How is that dissing your team, or being Arrogant about ours?

This is not giving credit where credit is due. This is you trying to delude yourself into thinking your team still controls their own destiny, no matter who they are playing. But I guess I must have read it wrong and you are from MIT, er the U of M.

Uh, SCSU hit the net when needed, which I mentioned. Are you that dumb where you can't deduce that from general statements?

MN may have gave them those chances, and they did, but SCSU could have also bricked. They didn't, unlike all of MN's odd man rushes. Seriously, you SCSU fans get stupider by the minute. It's crazy.

Re: Minnesota vs Jan Brady State (home and home) Nov 18th-19th

So Brent, if the Huskies sweep, I think the Gophers should retain their #1 ranking bc they beat themselves, and beating the #1 team in the nation twice on a weekend is pretty impressive.

Re: Minnesota vs Jan Brady State (home and home) Nov 18th-19th

I don't get too worried about the gopher fans giving SCSU any credit. It's what fans do. We didn't give mankato any credit for their win last week :)

While we gave up a ton of shots, I thought our team defense - for the most part - was pretty solid. We kept a lot of shots to the outside and Farragher did a nice job controlling his rebounds. We did give up way too many odd man rushes though.

Nice heading to Maryoochie with 2 points in the bag.
