Minnesota @ UAA 1/29-1/30 - IS the season over yet

Re: Minnesota @ UAA 1/29-1/30 - IS the season over yet

Agreed, totally agree, great advice, and can't agree enough! I sure hope we see Trevor, Curtis, and Bryce tonight. Coach you have sent your message to the players, but enough is enough. Please don't turn into another Talafous!

I know the series is over, but i thought i'd let you know that we will most likely not see bryce start another hockey game for a while. i heard he got in some sort of trouble. most likely his grades and attitude. that's what the word is on the street anyway.

I am glad I watched the Wild lose to San Jose over watching another priceless Gophers loss. In two months I bet tdon really is going to hear about this season from the booster who have lots of money. If he thinks this season was bad from the Gopher faithful just wait until after the season. He will not know what hit him. Good luck coach Lucia you are going to need it.

4Four4 do you think the University is going to be able find a big money person to buy out tDon's contract? Isn't he making like 250,000.00 a season? That is a lot of money. Doesn't he have something like two years left on his contract?

Yup, I've heard some of the stories from reliable people. Bryce also gave his stick to a kid in the arena last Saturday night. What that means is beyond me, but I sincerely hope he doesn't leave the team after this season. They are going to need him next year!

I am all for sending a message to a player if their grades are not up to par, or if they break team rules, but there was a lot of miscommunication here, and I think Shyiak has taken it too far.

I think Johnny O is playing well enough to keep the starting job. Alot of UAA fans wanted to see Shyiak stick with one goalie and now that we have done that we are winning and are having a successful second half thus far.

Even though Jonnie allowed 7 goals against on Friday, the defense was largely to blame as well. I did some checking, and before the break, when Shyiak was splitting duties, Bryce and Jonnie had played a total of 9 games each. In those games, Jonnie allowed 30 goals, Bryce allowed 33 goals.

Their save percentages and goals against are nearly identical. Overall, Jonnie has a 879 save% with 3.33 goals against. Bryce has a save % of .867 and 3.75 goals against. In league play, Bryce is slightly better with .879/3.46, Jonnie with .875/3.47.

Neither of these guys has the numbers to prove they are the better goalie, so if one has a better attitude and is doing better in the classroom, it only makes sense he will get the nod, and that is what I think is happening here.

I hope Bryce will get a chance to prove himself over the next few games, because I don't think anyone would argue he handles the puck much better and acts like a third defenseman on the ice.

Except on the ice Olthuis has proven himself to be the goalie. There's no reason to go to a different goalie. Why some of you guys have a hard-on for Bryce I don't know but he doesn't need to be playing right now.

Holy Cow! Almost a half a million to coach college hockey, that's a pretty good gig.

He makes any where from $500,000 to $800,000 thousand dollars. It is the highest paid coaching spot in all the land.

It is one of the reasons why boosters don't like to lose. He is paid well and he should be winning more games.

If you look closely his assistants make over $120,000 dollars in parts of the country that is what head coaches are making.

Minnesota is a meat grinder in a huge hockey population where many fans feel they know the game better than coaches. Everybody knows and understands the game kind of like Canadians.
