Minnesota Twins: 2013 Season Thread

Re: Minnesota Twins: 2013 Season Thread

I care more about the Twins than the Vikings, Wild, and Wolves combined. But boy they suck.

Did you get in trouble with the law and this is part of your community service or something?

Someone broke into my car and left a pair of Twins tickets in the front seat :(

Re: Minnesota Twins: 2013 Season Thread

Well, with the loss last night, the Twins can no longer get to 70 wins this season. As a result, this marks the first 3-year stretch in Minnesota Twins history where the team failed to get to 70 wins in at least 1 of the three years. The last time the franchise went 3 straight seasons with fewer than 70 wins was from 1957-1959 (as the Washington Senators...in a 154 game season). FWIW, the Senators won fewer than 70 games from 1954-1959.

That being said, if the Twins win at least 1 of the final 3 against Cleveland, they will have improved their win total in each of the past two seasons (going from 63 wins in '11, to 66 in '12, to 67/68/69 in '13)....Hey, it's improvement! :p:D:D

Re: Minnesota Twins: 2013 Season Thread

Well that was a lovely 5-19 stretch to finish out the season. Outscored 159 to 69 along the way, including giving up 11, 18, 12, 11, 11 and 12 in a three-week period.

(And thanks FS23 for that "this is the 1st time in team history we've had three seasons in a row without at least 70 wins each year" tidbit. You're a real pal. :D)

The park is pretty, tho'.

Just trying to put things into perspective. While I certainly wouldn't argue that this is the worst three year stretch in Twins history, it definitely could be made.

I thought 70-75 wins should have been the goal this season, and if not for the 5-19 stretch down the finish, it certainly could have been realized (even a .400 record over that span would have yielded 9-10 wins, and a 70 win season). This team has a lot of talent in the system, and it will be interesting to see how they develop. Obviously, it is difficult to make much of a prediction/goal for next season, but I would certainly think 70-75 wins is reasonable.

Re: Minnesota Twins: 2013 Season Thread

I don't see the Twins losing another game this year.

Re: Minnesota Twins: 2013 Season Thread

I don't think it matters much who the manager is when the talent isn't there.
I do think though that Rick Anderson should be fired (4 years ago)

Exactly. There's nobody out there who's proven that they'd be better than Gardy.
