Minnesota State University Maverick Hockey: 2012-2013 Season Thread

Re: Minnesota State University Maverick Hockey: 2012-2013 Season Thread

If there are any tickets left, please people, snap them up. Let's make sure we actually have a home ice advantage when we're playing at home.

Sounds as though Zuck is progressing well and should be in line to return next week for the playoffs.

Does anyone else have a problem with the TUC portion of the PWR? Why do they consider half the NCAA under consideration.

Quinnipiac has played 21 games against the TUC teams and none of them have been played against the top 20 teams in the current PWR rankings. While Minnesota have played like 14 of 21 games and SCSU has played 16 of 24 against TUC teams.

I get your sentiment, and it seems confusing. Maybe the TUC line is what it is due to the fact that almost every team on that list has a chance, some better than others of course, to make a run and win their conference tournament.

I really think it's unavoidable and only going to get worse. With the "power teams" consolidating into fewer conferences, it's bound to happen. Those top teams are going to play each other more often and the lower teams are going to end up playing each other more. The TUC seems to me to be the best way to do the comparisons (albeit they might use KRACH instead of RPI). With the future landscape of college hockey, I don't see a way around the comparison system that is still objective.

With that being said, I think MSU and BSU are going to be very important to the new conference as a whole. We all know that those non-conference games are big for everyone in the conference. With the way things are setting up, it seems like MSU and BSU are going to be going up against NCHC and BT conferences more often than most of our conference mates. That's not to say that the other teams won't get those matchups at all, but with the MN Cup and other in-state series it seems like we are going to have a lot of comparisons resting on our shoulders. Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but it seems like it's setting up that way.

Definitely agree with that sentiment. NMU and MTU will get games against Michigan and Michigan State in the GLI, and MTU also has Duluth next year. Alaska and UAA both with WMU in a tourney, etc.

The schools with the most potential to be perennial powers in the new WCHA are Bemidji, Mankato and Tech.

Good luck in the second half, and wouldn't it be fun if that North Dakota - Minnesota State series was for the MacNaughton? :)

When this was originally posted on Jan 10th, who would have really believed that this was a possibility. And, in reality, i don't think Fighting Sioux 23 believed it was a possibility either.

We would be more than happy to share the cup.

Quoting MavsFan "Don't know if my heart could take it". Since I'll be eating with him before the game, I'll have the paramedics on speed dial.

I would pick Mankato, Tech, and Ferris. Bemidji, Western, and Fairbanks the darkhorses.

Western? Drinking again tonight?;)

So we await UNO or UMD. UNO is struggling BIG time right now.

Great series this weekend.. Could've had four points, could've had zero. 2 and home ice are good. That's a big win for the Pairwise.

Bring on the Red Mavericks. Jutting comes home for the playoffs.

Screw Jutting in his pompous chain-smoking ***. I hope UNO gets absolutely corn-holed and Jutts is sitting in the back of the bus sobbing about never winning in the Cell all the way back to Omaha.

The pain in the arse.....
