The best thing about this team is that they have a defense! In the last 22 games they have only given up more than 2 goals 6 times, while only losing 3 of those games.
Stephon is 17-5-1 in his current 23 game streak as the starting goalie with a GAA of 1.83.
Have to like that!!

Bingo. If they could make a run the next month, the possibilities in the pairwise would be endless...More importantly, they're now 7th in the Pairwise.
He goes by "@Gervechkin" on Twitter...Whoa. That is impressive. You don't see that pulled out in a game often...
It was a pretty special goal! It would be much better for us to avoid playing Wisconsin for the 1st round. I think there are 7 viable teams and then the rest.
I wouldn't discount CC either. Wisconsin is a team to avoid though, without question.
I want top 3, I'd be happy to see UMD heading to Mankato

Ugh, I note that the Purple Cows were 1-8 on the power play against an over-matched opponent.
Hastings was in charge of UNO's horrific power play here. UNO only had 25 power play goals last season in 146 attempts (worst in the WCHA).
Hastings walks on water here in Omaha and he has some major street cred. That said, it will be interesting to see if you guys have as dyslexic a power play as we have had under his tutelage as your season goes on.
A power play hallmark was the utterly ridiculous amount of dump and chase that went on, a lot of the time, for no discernible reason. Battles that UNO didn't win very much. Seriously, I am not making this up--more often than not, UNO looked better on offense, short-handed, than they did on the power play last season, a comment buttressed by the fact that UNO was 2nd in the nation in shorties last season with 10 goals scored.
You've been warned. I don't seem to recall his Lancer's teams having this problem, though. For the most part, those teams were so good it might not have mattered much, anyway.
Hmmm. Lets see how our power play is doing now that we have exactly 146 attempts. 34-146 23%. 2nd in WCHA. 4th in the nation.
I have noticed that the last couple of weekends the MAVS have used a "behind the net" powerplay set up and have gotten some nice chances with it. I have no idea who on the staff came up with it but it seems to be different enough that teams haven't seen much of it and it is creating chances. I just hold my breathe when they make a pass out front and the forward doesn't make contact. In past seasons that would often lead to an aposing forward headed the other way with speed. I think one difference in that senerio this year is the defense is playing a better point game and are in better position.
BTW, games in Mankato are much better with a band. I enjoyed hearing them last weekend.
I just wish they hadn't moved them to right behind me. It's deafening. They used to be down in the student section.BTW, games in Mankato are much better with a band. I enjoyed hearing them last weekend.
