Minnesota @ Ohio State: 3/7 & 3/8

Re: Minnesota @ Ohio State: 3/7 & 3/8

So who wins the tie breaker? I can easily see WI sweeping the Sparans and the Gophs taking only 1 out of Yost

Edit: Hold that thought..... Penn State is taking it to OT with the BADgers

Well with 2 games left the Gophers sit at 42 points and the Badgers sit at 37 points. That means that the Gophers would tie the Badgers if they lost and took a game to OT and lost the shootout. I don't really see that happening. In addition, the Badgers would have to sweep Sparty on the road. Again, more possible, but still unlikely.

With that said, the tie-breaker would be wins. If MN didn't win a game they'd sit at 13 with the Badgers at 14 if they swept.

Re: Minnesota @ Ohio State: 3/7 & 3/8

Did the patch on the shoulder of the jerseys of Ohio State mean something? Cause the screen shots I have it looked like a pot leaf.

Re: Minnesota @ Ohio State: 3/7 & 3/8

1. MN played like sh*, except for TWOCOX.
2. What a horsesh* reffing job on the two reviewed goals. Either both should have counted, or neither should have counted. This game should never have gotten to OT. What a joke.

Doesn't matter, we will win the B1G outright against the ugly helmets next weekend, they aren't that good.

Will be fun to celebrate at Yost.

Re: Minnesota @ Ohio State: 3/7 & 3/8

I missed the first 2 periods. Two goals disallowed for the Gophs?

No. One was disallowed for MN (no sound on the tv at the bar; was told crease violation) and then a same situation goal was allowed for OSU later on.

Gophs should have counted then because the OSU tying goal looked good to me. OSU player was forced into the crease

Exactly. And since they waved off the MN goal, they should have waved off the OSU goal. It was pure bullsh*.

Mmmm......not sure.

Guertler wasn't pushed in. The OSU player was. It's a fine line but I'm not going to blame the officials for this one.

It was JUST those two calls I (and the Armadillo family, who were with me watching the game) had issues with. Other than that, nothing out of the ordinary. We just wanted consistency. All of us instantly said after the OSU goal...if they counted it, it was a pure horsesh* call, due to the ruling on the first overturned goal.

Re: Minnesota @ Ohio State: 3/7 & 3/8

Guertler was kind of corralled into Frey, the OSU player was straight shoved into Wilcox. I don't think Guertler could have avoided contact, but if he had made more of an effort to try and not hit him, out probably would have stood.

And there it is. That was our argument

Re: Minnesota @ Ohio State: 3/7 & 3/8

I was just pointing out that the fine line lies somewhere between being directed and being shoved. It is frustrating, but nothing new.

And we were going by the avoiding contact. Both incidents...no way was the player going to avoid contact. If you start ruling on "effort to avoid" when it's plainly obvious that there will be contact...blech. I mean, I get overplaying the contact, but that was not the case in either incident tonight.
