Minnesota @ Michigan State : 12-5 & 12-6

Re: Minnesota @ Michigan State : 12-5 & 12-6

If you get the sports package from Comcast (not terribly expensive) then you get those Fox regional channels, central atlantic etc... the game will be live on central I believe. Or like you said you can watch the live stream on BTN2go.

I think this will be a very tight series, MSU has played us close the last few years. I am hearing rumors that Boyd was making the trip, that will help that 3rd line out which then strengthens the 4th line. We'll see...

Re: Minnesota @ Michigan State : 12-5 & 12-6

Yeah, on mine it is listed as Fox Sports Central which is out of Detroit. I don't have that channel so I may have to watch the stream.

There is that. I see it listed, I have it set to record, yet I probably won't know until I put the kids to bed and sit down to watch it whether I get this game or an inferior product. God help me if it is basketball:eek: Great, now I'll fester over this all day.

Re: Minnesota @ Michigan State : 12-5 & 12-6

I'm interested to see what MSU looks like this weekend as I bought tickets to one of the home games against them later this season.

Re: Minnesota @ Michigan State : 12-5 & 12-6

After a night to think about it:

Pros-
We only got outscored by 1 in each of the last two periods
We almost put up a couple goals
It could've definitely been like 8-0, so at least we kept it in Tier 2 blowout range.

Cons-
Basically everything

Re: Minnesota @ Michigan State : 12-5 & 12-6

Boyd in lineup = all we do is win.

Just sayin

And you're sayin a lot San, Boyd always keeps his feet movin' and made a huge difference on the PP last night. Gopher PP% this season is one of the best in recent years at 31%, and they did a nice job of finding the seams last night to bang in 3 PPG against Sparty, currently tops in the B1G with an 85% PK%.

I like Warning back on 1st line with Rau and Fasching. I'm not a fan of Boyd with Michealson and Isackson though. Vinni skates hard, but I think Boyd at C with Ambroz and C. Reilly is the stronger 3rd line. Like to see Ambroz find his scoring niche again, he hasn't scored in 11 games.

I expect a closer game tonight and a sweep would close out this half with some much needed confidence. Go Gophers!:)

Agree with everything you said. Well said Harley.

With the current line changes I think we're getting real close to finding something that has some consistent firepower. If Fasching, Cammarata and Ambroz can find their scoring touch in the second half, this team will be tough to beat.

Re: Minnesota @ Michigan State : 12-5 & 12-6

Does anyone know the name of the BigFail individual that thought shootouts would be a good idea?

Re: Minnesota @ Michigan State : 12-5 & 12-6

Predictions for this weekend:

MSU is bipolar once again, unfortunately this time the good game only comes up with a tie.

Friday:
Minny- 4
MSU- 1

Saturday:
Minny-3
MSU-3
MSU S/O win

Well, got Saturday right, and the total goals right Friday. Somewhat disappointed we didn't come away with the win tonight, but I'll take 2 points against the team that is going to win the B1G again.

You guys deserved 3, but then again the Gophers nearly stole one at the end when Ambroz nearly won it. Heckuva save by Hildebrand.

Re: Minnesota @ Michigan State : 12-5 & 12-6

Another game where the Gophs got badly outshot.

Not surprised at all by that. We're not blocking shots like we did last season. Marshall has typically led out, but he's the only Gopher in the top 20 (B1G) in that category. Sparty has always been strong on blocks and has 5 players in the top 20. SOGF @ 30/GP is only slightly down from last season (35), but SOGA/GP is about the same @ 29.

Once again the Gopher PP was exceptional tonight (2/2), and at 34% the Gophers currently have the best PP% in college hockey. Their PK% leads the B1G as well, but we've taken far too many penalties in this first half.

Nice to see Boyd back on the 3rd line and an assist on one of Connor Reilly's 2 Gs tonight. I really like the way Connor skates and goes hard to the net. If he stays healthy and consistent, this may prove to be a huge breakout season for him. He and Kloos are now tied for most Gs at 7.

My main concern has been 5 on 5 goals, which has been slightly down. But with the PP clicking strong, GF and GA are approximately the same for the Gophers as they were last season.

Overall, even with a few bumps in the road, the 9-4-1 record is a very good first half for this team. I would not be surprised to see fewer line changes going forward as the set lines now look about right. If our RWs (Fasching (5), Cammarata (1), Ambroz(1)) can find the back of the net more often in the second half, we'll have a good shot at a deep run in the postseason. Go Gophers! :)

Gophers tie/lose and Harley posts. It's as predictable as the sun rising.

Is he only supposed to post when the Gophers lose? I thought it was a well thought-out post, albeit one of the "glass half full" variety. I can buy into it, although I must say I'm somewhat disappointed in the teams' play - and record - in the first half. Given all the returnees with all that experience and talent I was expecting a bit more, and hopefully the players feel the same. But putting things in perspective we're still in good shape, and all the pieces are in place for a strong second half...
