Minnesota hosts Colorado College: Jan 20-21

Re: Minnesota hosts Colorado College: Jan 20-21

What do I win?

Bragging rights, I guess? :)

Game day and we're at 40 posts? Are we all that worn out from dealing with maroons from UND (and RWD, and Gurt) last week? Are we as fans going through a mid season slump? Unacceptable!

Big series for both teams. I would really like to see at least 3pts for the Gophs this weekend. Create some seperation in the standings.

Some of us are in shock over the loss (hopefully temporary) of GPL! There is some NoDak moron fatigue too in there.

So is there anything going on in CC beyond just one player being suspended? Is Scotty facing any bad attitude among the troops? Is ronmexico still a Gopher fan?

ETA: And for me, I'm still p***ed that I had to sell my tickets for this series to go to a kids' hockey tournament instead. :(

Article in the local fishwrap talks about the father-son match-up between Guentzels this weekend:http://www.startribune.com/sports/gophers/137726678.html (may have difficulty reading since they want you to subscribe these days).

"I can play any six [of our defensemen] against CC's [No.] 1 or 2 line," he said. "Nobody struggles defensively, nobody has foot-speed problems. Nobody makes poor decisions. I trust them all in any situation."

 That's been the team's biggest issues lately. Great he has faith but a little reality would be good too.

I am worried that the Gophers will have UND hangover too. I am expecting a split but hope that Saturday was a wake up call for the Gophers.

I always look forward to playing CC and this year so no exception. CC are usually very skilled and play with speed which is fun to watch. If we lose I want to at least feel like the other team deserved the win and with CC I usually do.

I am a little worried that about CC's forwards. The Gophers give up too many break-aways and CC has the guys to convert on them. Focus on defense this weekend is critical for both teams.

GO GOPHERS!

I have to admit I did a little  when I read that too. ;)

Re: Minnesota hosts Colorado College: Jan 20-21

Some folks are worried about a "hangover" from last weekend. I'm not.

In fact, I'll go out on a limb and predict one of the best Friday night performances for MN in some time. I think they sense they have put themselves in position to be among the top at the end of the year, but that position is still tenuous. In Lucia's hay-day he had a knack for getting his teams to start playing their best hockey at the end of the season, and I expect that to become a trend once again.

No predictions on outcomes. CC has too many weapons. These games ought to be high-flying and very entertaining.

CC goes down faster than a prom queen.

MN sweeps.

Nice prediction on play. Nice effort by the team. Crappy outcome. (The better team lost tonight, not that CC didn't play a good game.)

Re: Minnesota hosts Colorado College: Jan 20-21

Well that sucks. Not irritated by the play tonight. Two evenly-matched teams. Just sucks.

Re: Minnesota hosts Colorado College: Jan 20-21

MN had far more chances than CC did, that's for sure. Unfortunately, they ran into a hot goalie and two bad defensive breakdowns cost them goals (and the game).

Re: Minnesota hosts Colorado College: Jan 20-21

Congrats CC. Therimbort stood on his head to save the game.

How much bad juju can the Gophers withstand?! It was as bad as it could get tonight.

I wonder if the crazy hair coach will play "spread your five hole Howe" tomorrow night. He likes that sieve. If he does Gophs will roll.
