Elk River vs. Centennial
Apple Valley vs. Wayzata
Little Falls vs. St. Cloud Cathedral
Grand Rapids vs. Virginia
New Prague vs. Rochester Lourdes

That is surprising. I don't expect BSM to lose much this year, they're stacked with talent.
Outside of Duluth East, I don't see anyone on that almost unbeatable level. The Hounds are stacked with talent, depth, and experience. No one else can say the same. Should be a really good season and state tournament.

Maple Grove avenges their section loss last year tonight defeating Blaine 6-3.

Blaine will take them in the section final again. MG beat Blaine in the regular season last year too, and it still didn't matter.

It'll be interesting. Maple Grove is the better team this year, without question. Gross is such a phenomenal defenseman. Brodzinski tends to take days off, which he did last night.

BSM still has to prove their defense and goaltending aren't suspect. As for DE being the cream of the crop, I think Tonka will be right there if Behounek plays solidly. Tonka has size, speed, proven talent at F and D, several players that went to state two years ago and very good coaching.

That said I think there are more teams that will compete this year than an any recent past. Remember that Burnsville was a late game collapse against Edina from reaching state last year and they returned a healthy dose, and there's MG, EP has had a strong start, Eagan should be very good...

Should be a very fun year. BSM needs to beat Duluth Marshall tomorrow if they want to stay in the talk of being an elite team in the state.

Good week for the Duluth metro teams, 4 of 5 are ranked in Minnesota. Duluth East pretty much dominated WBL last night with a final score of 6-3. WBL evened up the shots as Duluth East was rolling their 3rd and 4th lines when they got up by 3.

Definitely. It's going to be an interesting season I think. It's gotta be Duluth East's for the taking. All they need is some decent goaltending, and they should have a very good shot at winning another title.

The tourney is a ways out and a lot can happen between now and then, but a Minnetonka Duluth East matchup would be top notch.

And it would have an awesome, pro Hounds crowd.;)

The Schwans Cup tournament should have some absolutely fantastic matchups shortly after Christmas.

Re: Minnesota High School Hockey 2011-2012

to elaborate....

Ridder Arena wouldn't be a bad place to spend December 27th..

Schwans Cup Gold Division

Holy Angels vs. St. Thomas Academy
Burnsville vs. Duluth East
Minnetonka vs. Hill Murray
Edina vs. Blaine

Might have to bring the bantam team to watch two of the players older brothers play for two fo those teams.
