And the Gophers had a large sample size of seven OT games to earn a tie, but kind of wild and chaotic how all 7 OT games were decided within five minutes. 4-1 in the BIG and 0-2 OOC.

Three of those OT Ws were against the Buckeyes and the 4th was also decided by 1 goal. OSU had good speed and puck control tonight against Sparty. The Gophers better be on their game cuz OSU will come out with a vengeance for at least one W. I anticipate a fast paced battle tomorrow night.

I think the Gophers would have matched up better against the Spartans, and if they didn't win I was hoping they would take the Buckeyes to some more overtimes. But the extra ~14 minutes shouldn't affect OSU's game tomorrow and they'll give the Gophers everything they have left, which could very well be enough. Should be a great game!

I became a Spartans fan last night myself, but to no avail.:D Yeah, the rest factor is of no advantage for either team when you're fighting to extend your season. Despite their record, I've been very impressed with the Buckeyes speed and puck movement this season. I suspect both teams will leave everything on the ice tonight when all is said and done. I'm sure I'll be talkin' [screamin'] at my TV tonight.;)

I had the choice of watching the game, or going to Rochester to visit my Dad who has heart and kidney problems at Mayo. Things are really looking up, MN wins both games, and Dad should come home tomorrow.

Third period has been their best period this season and nice to see it repeated tonight for the 4-2 W. Cammy certainly picked a good time to shine with 2 in the third, really happy for him. That 5 hole move on Frey on his last goal was awesome. Sets up a rematch of the Wolverines vs Gophers for the tourney championship...the way it should be.;)

They've been an extremely hot and cold team all year long. On their best day they could beat anybody in the nation but on their worst day they could lose to almost anybody in the nation. They'll have their hands full tomorrow night with a powerhouse Michigan team, but should they happen to win I think they will go into the regionals as the 4 seed most likely to knock off a 1 seed.

The first period....man....it was like being at a wake, just waiting for the season to end. Then MN actually decided to give a dam, and it totally changed the game. Just get in, boys, and start praying for a run.

2nd period wasn't all that great either. Better than the first, but when you set the bar that low... :(

But the 3rd period show what this team is truly capable of when firing on all cylinders. If they can put together three periods tomorrow night like we saw in the 3rd period vs. the Buckeyes I like their chances to beat Michigan. Hell, I would like their chances to beat ANYBODY on a night when they play to their full potential all three periods. But they've been so Jeckyl & Hyde all year, I just never know what to expect. Frustrating!

A few GPLers/USCHOers and I were talking, and if we had the exact same season record as right now, but every game the Gophers were playing at the full potential? Ok, disappointing, sure, but nothing to hang your head about. However, KNOWING what they CAN do, but not trying/going full bore every game.....man, it's frustrating.
