His second NHL shift. If he would have stayed another year he could've scored on his first shift... lol

Re: Minnesota Gophers Season Thread 2015-16

Per a post on GPL Seeler has signed.

He turned in a good season. He changed as a player, getting considerably more disciplined. Not that he was the most talented player or skilled passer, but he was possibly the most tenacious player. I could see how the pros could see him as ready to take it up a notch.

I agree that he got considerably more disciplined as the season progressed, and other aspects of his game got better also. In the second half I think he became our best "defensive defenseman", and as that was not a strong point for the team as a whole, I think that him leaving will hurt more than people think. It's a role and skill set that's very hard to replace with a freshman.

Re: Minnesota Gophers Season Thread 2015-16

I saw in the paper this morning the Wild project him as a shut down type dman. Hope it pans out as the Wild really need one.

“He played in a shutdown role, and we envision him playing a similar role at the pro level,” General Manager Chuck Fletcher said. “He’s a highly competitive kid, defends well, is a good skater and physical.”

Very good in the corners.

Next year, we may be lacking a Seeler but we'll have a lot of emerging skill. Bischoff, Glover, Johnson, Sadek, Lindgren and Zuhlsdorf (and Collins). If Bischoff leaves, we'll be pretty green.

Re: Minnesota Gophers Season Thread 2015-16

So I hear Gavin Hain got an invite from the U17 NTDP team, but not McLaughlin. (Not 100% verified.) With some other Gopher recruits trying out, does anyone know who has been offered, or is there just typically an announcement once the roster is finalized? I am curious to see who was invited.

Hain seemed to separate himself from McLaughlin at the end of the year. I was hoping McLaughlin would be key to getting Hain.

I'm sure we'll hear on twitter or via USA hockey, and they release names in waves. I expect Brinkman to get an invite for sure, and on some board they said Nelson was invited.

Hain looked better for a lot of the year, but McLaughlin looked like the best player on the ice against East.

Was hoping both, or neither (Hain McLaughlin) would get invited. Didn't think either would likely accept, but now that Klatt is gone, I am not so sure.

Re: Minnesota Gophers Season Thread 2015-16

It's a little bit crazy how kids seem to stay four years at GR more than any other school.
