Re: Minnesota Gophers Season Thread: 2014-2015

The hit was bad, the tripping call was bad, but yet neither excuse this performance. Wisconsin looked like crap. This team just doesn't give a hell.

Some people fall back on the whole counting as a tie thing, but what the hell does that matter? Their PWR is in the dumpster. Get conference points to try and improve seeding for the B1G tourney.

Must have been the game thread where the comment was made about 2 wins 2 ties ok for series. I agree, that is not acceptable against a team with 2 wins on the season, on a weekend when Michigan and other teams just above MN in pairwise lose and tie to open the door a little. MN should have buried WI. They need to beat the worst team in the B1G to get to top 2 position and get a bye. The whole, 'split on the road is fine' is out the window with where this team has put themselves.

I think the team realized this as well. At no point did they didn't sit back on their heels and play for that tie on the road. They played to win, they should have won, but as is so typical with this team they found a way not to win. You can point to Warning's getting his stick up high and getting called for hooking with 3:12 to go as a big reason why. After Wisconsin took advantage, the Gophers were in fact fortunate to bang one in at the very end and get that "split on the road" which as you say in the Gophers' situation is NOT so fine...but certainly that tie is a whole lot better than a loss.

Hopefully back on the ice soon? That doesn't seem that positive to me.

It's better than this career ending injuries that is being thrown around. Not much, but at least it's something.

Doesn't sound career or necessarily even season ending. My expectations were for worse.

So I know next to nothing about Twitter, but on his page(?) he has this quote in the upper left;
You never really live until your backs against the wall #MustangChem
. Maybe that was the plan by the Gophers; 'Instead of trying to win every game this year, let's play really crappy hockey for a couple months and see if we can storm back. Win it when our backs are against the wall.' (grasping for any straws...)

It's a reach but your effort cannot be questioned;)

A strategy consistently applied by the Wild. Let's just hope it works out. It's not over yet, but not looking real bright as we wait for this team to prove us wrong.

I don't think anyone doubts the Gophers are perfectly capable of turning it around. I think they are likely to. Most of those guys have won a lot of hockey games together. If they do get back to winning, though, it will be a challenge for them not to lose confidence if and when they hit rough spots in the tourney.

Re: Minnesota Gophers Season Thread: 2014-2015

I doubt it based on how late it is and the fact that Wilcox seems broken. But if he starts playing well all bets are off.

In other words if bacon starts falling from the sky everything is roses.

I mean we've seen the guy play like Rask, unless he's injured it's not that ridiculous to think he can turn it around. Bigger issue is that it's probably too late to make a playoff push and the margin of error is zero.
