Minnesota Gophers Offseason Thread 2014 - Quick, Reload!

Re: Minnesota Gophers Offseason Thread 2014 - Quick, Reload!

Middle of 2nd page??????? So much for the good old days of USCHO....

Can anyone tell me what the goal post rule actually calls for?

Well Koho, I don't the specifics of the goal post rule. But I remember when Ben Belde crashed into a post with his midsection in CC. That was held by a permanent post in the ice and would not come off its moorings. Ben woke up in the middle of the night in severe pain and finally decided to tell the team doctor, who had him taken the hospital where they found out he had ruptured his spleen and was bleeding internally, and might not have made it if he had tried to tough it out all night. After that, nets that could be knocked off became the standard. So I am curious what the new rule calls for. Will they be harder to dislodge?

Is there an echo in here....here.....here...?

All the pieces are in place, even if they aren't all drafted. Scooby, did you break the 25% glass ceiling, or still being pulled down by that last game?

Was wondering the same thing. When is he going to update the glass?

Good thing we "pass" more on the Milano types these days. ;)

All joking aside, I do think it goes to show that having the staff thinking harder about roster continuity in its recruiting is wise.

Indeed. One-and-dones do not make for a good program.

Re: Minnesota Gophers Offseason Thread 2014 - Quick, Reload!

Anyone heard how they're doing on season ticket sales? It seems that since they went on that priority seating scheme a couple of years ago, there have been an increasing number of empty seats...With the very favorable team outlook for the coming season, hopefully this trend reverses itself. A good indicator may be my own situation. My pair is in Section 19, and when they called I expressed interest in moving to the other side of the same section, but was told this was not possible. They said there was just one open seat, a single, in that entire section - every other seat in 19 was sold.

Any way, can't wait for the first puck to drop, and hope to see that the energy level in the building is up a notch or two this year. The action/results on the ice should really help in that regard!

They do seem to take larger top prospects on D periodically. But even there, big defensemen seem to take a bit more time to get their legs before moving on. Downright masterful. The brand of the program doesn't hurt.

Good to see the thread still has a slight pulse.

So did Milano jump ship? Rumor was he was leaving, then confirmation he was playing this year. Has something changed?

Still no sign of Scooby though....

Re: Minnesota Gophers Offseason Thread 2014 - Quick, Reload!

Being cross country now I'm not as in touch with team goings on anymore.

Will the Gophers be as good as last year's edition? I mean theoretically. No one knows for sure.

On paper I would think so. But you can't predict luck, injuries, team chemistry...

Theoretically, this team should be even better.

As a dispassionate and objective observer who even has some friends who know gopher fans, I would say you should not overlook the girliness factor that is such a part of gopher hockey.

As a man who loves to delve into the topic of male sexuality, you probably know a thing or two about being "girly" I'm sure.

Between that and the man-on-goat market, you folks west of the St. Croix should be rolling. :)

You were the one who claimed to be an expert. I know nothing of such things. ;)

Much as I hate to say it, I have to believe you, Brent, since there is no such thing as a modest gopher fan.

One last chance to talk smack before your new Wisconsin Badges take the ice.
