Minnesota Gophers Offesason Thread: Back To 1896

Re: Minnesota Gophers Offesason Thread: Back To 1896

Rumor has it all NC games will be shown on Fox North and all conference games on BTN.
I am guessing that not all conference games will be on BTN. With 2 other conference games frequently happening at the same time, BTN can't show them all at once. I am guessing that FSN will have quite a few conference games on their network as well as non-conference games.

FSN is pretty much guaranteed ratings, so BTN can take some chances on other conference games, IMO. Drum up ratings for other teams, while not risking any decline of ratings for the Gophers (lack of BTN access, etc)

Well...the moment you've all been waiting for has finally arrived. Here are the s**tfaced names chosen by Minnesota hockey fans for the MN tourney:

The Herb Brooks Classic
The Hot Dish
The Minnesota College Hockey Classic
The Northern Lights Cup
The Star of the North Classic
The 10,000 Lakes Classic
The North Star Classic/Cup
The Taconite Cup/Classic

The Taconite Classic only works for me with a "-" = Taco-Nite. Vote HERE.

...the Gophers' season schedule has been released but decisions concerning TV coverage are in limbo at FOX Sports North until Big Ten Network decides which games it wants to broadcast. FSN officials say there will definitely be Gophers hockey on the tube next season but BTN has first pick of the conference games.

Not sure how it will affect FSN ratings, but BTN will obviously pick the best Gopher matchups that they believe will yield the highest ratings.

IIRC, FSN owns BTN for the most part. If it comes down to say, MI-WI and MN-whoever, I can see BTN "choosing" MI-WI.

If there's a night they have to choose I imagine the'll roll whichever footprint is larger on any given night. Might not always include UM in the mix. Don't care as long as I can watch.

If the Wild get swept on the road in the playoffs, I hope he starts chucking brooms.

Not sure what to think about the Nick Leddy with the cup at Mariucci. He was the classic example of someone who chose to bolt early (at least by Lucia's standards, with which I agreed). EJ is the one player I can see as one and done...its not often one is the #1 pick overall. Others may disagree...but if you can't commit to two years, go play in Canada as at Minnesota we're trying to put a hockey product on the ice.

He was a Gopher.

He thought he was ready to make the jump, and obviously it has worked out well for him. Would i have liked to see him stick around? Of course. But these things happen. Bottom line: He was a Gopher. I have no issue at all with him having the event there.
