The question marks are fairly large and fairly evenly weighted at F, D, and goalie. With Fasching back, I think that question mark becomes a bit smaller. No matter how well Schierhorn is doing in the USHL, that will still be a major question mark. Despite that, I think D is where we'll sink or swim.

Defense will come down to whether this years' sophomores got enough development to take it up a notch. I think between Collins, Glover and Johnson, we gave them about as much ice time as we could while ensuring we didn't damage our chance of winning. Sure Fasching will help in terms of carrying play on ice, but the leadership intangibles in terms of stability and helping out a large freshman class have a good chance to carry really help carry the mail.

We still shouldn't be the pre season conference favorites.

Re: Minnesota Gophers Off Season Thread 2015

Any idea if the Gophers will play an outdoor game in conjunction with the Wild/Hockey Day Minnesota?

I'd love to see the Northstar Cup series played outside over that weekend...

Re: Minnesota Gophers Off Season Thread 2015

Hopefully not... but considering there will be a rink on campus probably. It would be a conference game.

Negative...IMO outdoor ice conditions are too uncertain these days for a tournament much less a league game.

I'm done with outdoor games. Froze my rear-end off the last time I went.

Re: Minnesota Gophers Off Season Thread 2015

Better it be a Big Ten game than a non-conference game.

If it happens, that would be my preference too (unless it's Arizona State, but their schedule is set for Feb. ;)). The Wild/Blackhawks at TCF is Feb. 21. North Star College Cup at the X is Jan 29-30: Bemidji State, Minnesota State, Minnesota, St. Cloud State.

Mike Reilly and the coming "NCAA Factor".

Was kind of surprised that this article has been written only now. But did see that its much rarer than I thought. Don't know why many a draft pick would not do this. Pick your team rather than having it pick you.

Listened to Pat's commentary many times and enjoyed it, but like many of us had no idea how much pain he was actually in during those broadcasts. Awesome act of love by his brother. Best wishes Pat and Godspeed for a full and quick recovery! Pat undergoes kidney transplant.
