Minnesota Gophers 2012-2013 Part II: Mmmm, Iron City Beer!

Of course, you watched Frazee, Kangas and Patterson play.

Personally, I would have left Patterson off that list, but I digress.

Point is, we never chanted it when those guys made saves. Does your fanbase make a practice of doing that when your goaltender makes a save? I'd hope not ;)

I'm just shaking my head and laughing. UW fans basically come out and say that smaller programs like yours are less deserving of success than they are, and here you are defending them. You guys are a strange breed. Maybe they're right.

Take it easy, it was only a joke. Barring the return of Lou Holtz, I don't think football is in much danger of winning.

Did you read the part I replied to? Because I was saying that you know what sieve means, because you watched three of them play for your team. Don't try and now change what you said to mean that you know who to chant 'sieve' at.

Find a place where a UW fan said that said smaller programs were less deserving of success, or specifically used SCSU as an example. There are 16 teams that make the tournament. That leaves room for Minnesota, UND, Mankato, SCSU and Denver this year. Proof that Wisconsin can make it along with smaller teams, not neccessarily in their place. SCSU has made the tournament more than Wisconsin over the past 7, maybe as many as 13 years. Wisconsin fans saying they expect their team to make the tournament almost every year doesn't preclude small programs from making it as well.

Everyone can see through your straw-man argument that you concocted to distract from the fact that you are still trying to fight the losing battle of making 5>6.

Read my reply a little closer. Most notably the first line. I addressed your little shot at our goaltenders. Excuse me if I didn't find it so clever that it required the entirety of my reply to address it

Back on point. I also elaborated on what I meant by truely understanding what sieve means. Is it really too much to ask fans to understand what the hell they are chanting at a game? I don't think so. UW fans continually demonstrate they have one of the lower hockey IQs of all WCHA fanbases. Yea, it's a generalization, but one that fits. And was an appropriate comment in my response because I was addressing the difference between the Gophers and Badgers fanbase. Unlike UW's, we don't go to games preferring it was a football or basketball game we were attending.

As for your request for an example of a UW fan saying their program is more entitled to sustained success than yours, I removed the thread. People were taking things far too personally, and believe it or not, my intentions here aren't to get people worked up. Your program wasn't listed among the programs worthy of sustained success in some of their eyes. But you're too eager to insult me to actually understand the genisis of this discussion.

By the way, I could really care less about 5<6, so if you think this is what this is about, you are more utterly clueless than I thought. I haven't once during this discussion mentioned the Gophers other than to say I don't believe the Gophers are "entitled" to more success than small schools either. But again, you'd know that if you paid more attention to the discussion instead of trying to earn more rube cred by bashing me. Question is, can you swallow your pride, be a man, and admit your assumptions about my motives were wrong? I'm guessing no.

I've moved on. Let's see if everyone else can.

Gophers were 10-12 under Holtz. Just because you think you can throw a name around to try and make yourself sound smart, doesn't mean you should do so without having at least a little clue what the hell you're talking about. Oh geez...why am I wasting my time with this deer rapist?

What does sieve mean?

Hockey is part of the culture here, not just something to do on a Friday or Saturday night. Most of our fans know what icing is and what sieve means.

not liking hockey is just too mainstream

Seriously? The Goofs were a 1-10 doormat the year before Holtz got there for a cup of coffee and brought along Ricky Foggie. His second (and last) year he was 7-5, getting MN to it's first bowl win since 1962. Despite getting the program going in the right direction, it would take 14 more years of futility before MN could even reach 7 wins again. Had Holtz stayed, you guys would have been in the Rose Bowl in two more years. But even after having been at Arkansas, he apparently still hadn't built up the required tolerance to farm animals in the locker room necessary to the MN job.

I expect a little more, even from a goat ****er, than your statement.

Please keep the college football crap out of this thread.

Just stopping by to offer condolences. I see Bouncyball upset Indiana. Next thing you know the football program will get a few wins and Hockey glory will be but a 3rd fiddle memory. Sorry guys. :(
The basketball team is entitled to a win like that.

Apologies. I agree.

I confess that my older brother transferred to the University of Minnesota in 1985, apparently in some misguided attempt to help the less fortunate I suppose. I don't know, the family has never spoken to him since. But regardless, I became fairly familiar with the Ricky Foggie mania that swept the campus briefly, so I felt compelled to reply.

Geezus. Is that how Dubbs feels? Maybe I should see a professional about this...

I was in the thread. More importantly, I was in the Wisconsin season thread that you had to poke your nose into. It started well, but like what always happens when you appear in a thread, it devolved into you being a dick and starting your thread. Wisconsin fans were saying with the history that their program has and the resources that they have, the team should not be missing the NCAA tournament 5 out of 7 years. Which is correct. They said nothing about entitlement or deserving or any of that. You inserted those terms into the discussion, then used their responses as agreeing with your premise. Take a look, you say it three times just on this one page. BEFORE YOU STARTED YOUR STUPID THREAD.

That is what your motives are. No one on here misunderstands you. You are a dick. You saw a chance to take Wisconsin fans down a peg. No one cares about you enough that bashing you would gain them any cred. Are you kidding me? That would just make them one of the crowd.

For God's sake, just ignore him. At least in this thread. I have no idea what you are hoping to accomplish by arguing with him, but it is annoying as heck having to weed thru this bull crap here. The mentality around here is so juvenile.

You're right. Sorry for polluting your thread.
