Well I didn't hate seeing that.

7-0 non-conference record. Notre Dame looms large on the horizon.

Hearing Haula's injury was to his shoulder. Seeing doctors tomorrow, but no update on status as of yet.

Hope he's alright.

Definitely. He has been "the man" this season so far.

Good to see the first line go bonkers again. Also, Isackson was great this weekend, and Ryan Reilly was fun to watch too.

Really agree with all of that. I'm really hoping Bjugstad's 2nd goal tonight is just the first in a string of strong play going forward. That's the kind of goal every MN fan knows he is capable of, and we need to see more of it if MN is going to be a team to be feared.

I also really liked the 4th line. All weekend in fact. They had some of the best shifts of any line last night, a fact that I think can largely be attributed to Air Force's lack of depth in comparison to Minnesota. But having Isackson on that 4th line actually makes a lot of sense to me. He's got great puck handling skills, and putting him out there against the opposition's 3rd/4th line allows him to be quite a bit more productive with it.

And I'm ready to see Reilly get some more starts. Kid's got a motor on him.

I just realized that I am wearing the same shirt I wore to our beat down in Tampa. :D

That said, this does not make up for it. This was not the prize for this season. A very good Notre Dame team is next, time to keep this up.

The atmosphere in the building was electric tonight. Just too bad there was a bit of a conflict with the Vikings game, as there were quite a few empty seats at the beginning, and those late-arriving fans missed out on some insane action. As soon as they dropped the puck you quickly realized that the Gophers were so ready to play this game, so much so that it almost seemed like they had been saving themselves in all the games before the December break, just to be primed and at their very best for this one. Yes, I know that's not the case, but it sure seemed like it! ;)

My hope now is that the Gophs can now build on this supreme effort, so that the level of play they showed tonight becomes instinctive. And I can think of no better time to prove that this game was not an anamoly than the Notre Dame game on January 8th! Winning that one - by any margin - would be another huge step forward for this team as they make their second half run to the NCAA's.

Haula left the ice early in the third period grimacing in pain with what is reported to be a hand injury. Lucia expects an update midweek.

I'm hoping they checked the scoreboard and realized they didn't need to hustle him back. Doesn't sound catastrophic, but could be bad. hope for the best.

Yeah, I watched the game on DVR last night when I got home and saw the slash where he got hurt. Looked like a hard slash right on the hands.

The potentially very bad news though is Wild prospect Erik Haula left the game in the third period after being slashed across his hands. An update isn't expected from coach Don Lucia for a few days, but I am hearing from multiple sources that Haula has a potential fracture in one of his fingers on his right hand.
If that's the case, the Gophers could be without their leading scorer for awhile. Like I said, Lucia will have an update mid-week, but if broken, this could be as much as a month without the Gophers' most consistent forward this season.
That was the case a few years back when a certain Minnesota Wild Finnish center broke a digit.

Just wanted to drop by and congratulate MN on a very, very impressive victory. There's no doubt in my mind (and that has been from day one) that MN has the most talented team in the country and hopefully we meet again in the NCAA's.

Can't believe they gave up a goal! I guess they played ok otherwise. If they can beat ND by 6 or more, I guess I can start feeling good about this team. At least Bjugs started reading my posts and is playing like I told him he could play. Hope that keeps up. Can't wait for Tuesday.

I missed the slash on Haula (watched the third last night after party guests finally left after 1:30, so might not have been the most coherent at the time.) Was it blatant, or just a regular slash that caught the wrong spot? Hate to see him sit, both because of how it hurts the team, but also because he was playing well enough to garner Hobey consideration.

Slash didn't look malicious. Came on the 5-min power play. Haula carried the puck into the zone to Milner's right and centered the puck. As he circled behind the net, #12 on BC slashed him on the wrist before he entered the puck. Defender only had one hand on his stick, but it must have just caught him on a vulnerable spot. If reports are true, at least it's a finger(s) and not wrist and bone(s) and not ligament(s).

Looks like WCHA came out on top in OOC games this long weekend, just barely, No thanks to UNO.
