Minnesota Gopher 2012 offseason thread

Re: Minnesota Gopher 2012 offseason thread

Wow, now FS23 is using John Mariucci's name in the same sentence as a Nazi blow-hard. Classy. How quickly some forget (or fail to appreciate) that John Mariucci served this country.

What's next, is FS23 going to compare John Basilone or Ernest E. Evans to Osama Bin Laden?

I never mentioned John Mariucci.

What happened to Gopher fans? You guys used to be fun to argue with. Now all you do is make stuff up and try to argue with that.

EDIT: As for Ralph Engelstad being a Nazi Sympathizer...what's that old saying? You can take the boy out of Minnesota, but you can't take the Minnesota out of the boy...

Fixed. Too soon?

Could you please consider who you're arguing with before you say what you said?

Thanks.

Wow, as if it weren't bad enough that you constantly try and belittle and designify our program's history and tradition, but now you are actually defending the defamation of someone important to this program's military honor.

Classy as always pal!

{sadly shaking my head}

... rain, sleet, snow, the new WOW update or fat chicks in his basement can't keep dubbers away from the keyboard after a Mariucci (Minnesota) "bashing" :)

Re: Minnesota Gopher 2012 offseason thread

Sorry, but I don't apologize for having pride in our program (like some here), and I certainly don't enjoy listening to someone even bring up John Mariucci's name in defense of a Nazi scum bag like Ralph Engalstad.

Down play that if you'd like, but there is no reason Mariucci's name should even come up in a discussion like this. The guy served this country and didn't have portaits of himself painted in Nazi uniforms that were dedicated to Adolf Hitler.

Instead of getting defensive, UND fans need to own the fact that their key benefactor was a scum bag, and Gopher fans need to stop fricking apologizing when others defend our key builder's military honor.

It's not a joke.

A sense of humor helps on these boards dubbers... just sayin'

I get that. But making fun of our key builder, who has served this country, as a defense of a Nazi scum bag, isn't funny in my book.

But I don't expect less from FS23. The fact that some Gopher fans are so concerned with looking like they aren't too "provincial" that they've become borderline heretics does concern me.

Since when do we care if people think we're "too provincial" to the point of letting an opposing fan use John Mariucci in a defense of Ralph fricking Engalstad? Seriously, it's really, really sad.

LOL @ DUBBS ripping on FS23(yet again)!!!

You are so easy to get riled up it isn't even funny.....

Re: Minnesota Gopher 2012 offseason thread

The fact that this country is a mess isn't surprising. We've gone from the "Greatest Generation" to a generation more concerned about petty humor and fitting in than pride and doing the right thing.

Think of me what you'd like, but using a military veteran's name to defend a known Nazi sympathizer is no more unpatrotic than burning a flag. You might as well head on down to D.C. and take a leak on one of the war memorials.

Oshie is currently en route. He's picking up Haula on the way.

Re: Minnesota Gopher 2012 offseason thread

I believe that FS23 was originally making light of Harley's spelling issues and not defending a single thing... no surprise that it went straight over both his head and dubbs.

Re: Minnesota Gopher 2012 offseason thread

Are you implying that Northeast isn't safe? Northeast does not equal North. That part of Northeast by Nyes, The Bulldog and Keegan's Irish Pub is very safe, I don't see how anyone would have a problem with it.

Edina is the only safe city in the upper midwest.

I understood that. Howevere, here is what I didn't like. I'll lay it out for you plain and simple.

1. Someone makes joke about Ralph
2. FS23 feels he needs to defend the honor of UND and respond (which I can respect)
3. FS23 mocks the spelling of Ralph's name, and includes Mariucci in the joke.

John Mariucci doesn't deserve to be a part of any joke, let alone one that includes a Nazi sympathizing dirt bag. And Ralph didn't deserve defending, either directly or indirectly.

Mariucci, on top of everything he did for hockey in this country, served his country admirably. He is now deceased. Don't mock him, or use him in a joke. It's called respect.
