Re: Minnesota Golden Gopher Women's Hockey 2012-2013

Gopher free audio reports Noora "under the weather", did not dress.

Frost as much as said last week at the brunch that Leveille was going to play a game in New Hampshire. It's certainly possible that Noora is under the weather. It may also have been a way to guarantee a day off.

4-0 is the final as Amanda Kessel adds an unassisted shortie to move back into a tie for the most shorthanded goals in the nation with Wisconsin. Amanda Leveille records her second shutout of the season and retains her 100.0 save percentage. Goalie controversy?
I think the only controversy may be where the team finds a Dairy Queen to celebrate the road sweep.

Nice job on the road by Minnesota. I think they missed the presence of Menefee some...just the same. I hope everyone is available very soon. I sense war is imminent.

Border battle!

Great weekend for Stecklein.
While it is nice to see her score, what I've most appreciated about #2 is that she doesn't give me cause to be muttering to myself when watching the game. Defensemen should be a defensive asset first and foremost, and I'd say that she is, while I've seen other high-profile D over the years for Minnesota and other teams that have been a liability. So from my vantage point, Lee has had a number of great weekends already.

Re: Minnesota Golden Gopher Women's Hockey 2012-2013

Agreed with ARM. As I've said before, there are much worse things for a defenseman than to never get noticed by the fans.

Strange craving for a whoopie pie as I watch the game...

Love it! You must have known that both Hux and I were in attendance today! Sadly, whoopie pies were only discussed and not actually there for the taking.

Looks from the box score like you are correct.

Räty is listed in the box score. It is hard to believe that she would be listed in the box score if she did not dress.

Not necessarily. Dan Hamman is getting the info straight from either Brad Frost or Cory Hall, while the person entering the data for the box score is likely just entering what is on the line chart and may not have been told about the scratches or forgot to omit Noora. I doubt that Dan would come up with the "under the weather" line without some basis in fact.

She did not dress. I was sitting in the top row of the Whit at center ice, directly behind the Gophers bench, and just under the press box, 6 rows behind CrazyDave who can also verify this. I could clearly read every jersey up and down the bench. Your third goalie was the only dressed goalie on the bench.

I did listen to Leveille's interview on the Gopher web site, and she clearly stated that Brad Frost told her she was going to play "a couple weeks ago". Not say Raty wasn't under the weather, but apparently she wouldn't have played even if healthy.

Re: Minnesota Golden Gopher Women's Hockey 2012-2013

I can also attest to the fact that Noora did not dress. She was in street clothes and a white knit cap sitting in the stands. I must say I was most impressed with the Minnesota team defense over the course of the weekend. Thanks to the Minny faithful who made the trip out East - I hope to make the trip out to Ridder next year.

Ms. Leveille is the most credible of all of the various sources.

They were hitting the food court at Logan Airport pretty hard... numerous smoothies from the Burger King.

I kept looking and looking for her to come out of the tunnel for the pre-game warmup skate, even knowing that Amanda may start, but she didn't. During the game, she was sitting with Ms. Menefee and Ms. Garzone.

Sounds good. I had a good time.

Note to DC78-82 -- sorry I did get to say goodbye... I talked with the Gopher parents for a few minutes and then hit the road back to Boston for the flight home. (Probably a good thing I did... I got a little turned around and drove an extra half-hour more than I needed too {though I was in no danger of missing my flight}.)

Has anyone heard whether there will be a teddy bear toss this weekend? I had hoped they would turn it into a tradition...
