Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

No, other than the games against SSM so far have been very competitive, which was not usually the case when the Elite League first started several years ago. I'm not sure if this is due to the Minnesota High School girls getting better, or if SSM maybe is not quite as talented as they used to be.

More then likely SSM is a bit down.

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

Shattuck is still very good as their Ntl championship this spring attests. They play great team hockey and have individuals like Burke and Crossley who are excellent. The MSHL top forwards, Brandt, Curtis, Carlson, many others seem to be a bit more skilled and stronger and the top D like McMillen, Stecklein, and Armstrong are neutralizing their down-low play and scoring chances. Every game has been very well played and contested. The difference I believe is that the depth in the Elite league is getting better every year. You have the known top end players but the next tier of players are really good especially the 13's. There are times when one of the Elite teams has 4 or 5 D-I commits on the ice at one time. This set of skills negates some of the advantage that Shattuck has in playing together most of the year. The goaltending has been very good also so a few bounces of the puck either way could have changed a few outcomes. It's great hockey and all of the girls participating are terrific to watch!

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

Section 4AA looks loaded yet again with three SEC teams rated 4, 6 and 7 and the defending section champions (with their best player returning) rated number 5.

I haven't had any unusual problems but that site has always seemed slow to me.

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

Those rankings likely don't include results like Hill beating 'Tonka.
That was the consensus in the high school forum. I think HM is probably better than their current rank. I'd also question Stillwater in the absence of testing by other upper tier metro area teams. Also some results in class A that make those rankings questionable.

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

Nice win for HM over Stillwater 5-3 on Saturday - future Goph Hannah Brandt drove offense with 3 G and 1 A. HM outshot Stillwater 35-20.

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

Do not trust the accuracy of these stats quite yet. On the high school forum it's being reported that they are having difficulties with the new system, which apparently is much more complicated than before which is causing mistakes to be made by those assigned by their respective teams to send in the stats for each game. In some games individual players are reportedly being credited for more goals than their whole team is scoring, leading to inflated stats. Hopefully they can work out the kinks so that what's being shown on the site is as accurate as it can be.

Hill Murray getting their due respect as I thought they deserved...since the previous poll. I'll have to get myself to the Roseville / Stillwater SEC game(s) to see the Mighty Raiders. I'd also like to see a Roseville / Hill NC tussle. Could happen only if Roseville plays in the Kaposia this holiday season. I'm sure those brackets are available somewhere. One set back vs. Breck for the Pioneers thus far...with a game against the top ranked A squad  Warroad coming up.
