Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

The video quality is much better than average at full screen.
I agree. It was nice to watch a webcast and be able to see the puck most of the time.

And for those around the Twin Cities area, the games are also televised not KSTC in both standard and hi-def modes.

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

Midway through the second period of yesterday's Edina-Mounds View game the Xcel Center and the Minnesota Wild embarrassed themselves by asking a trivia question and getting it all wrong:

Two former winners of the Ms. Hockey award currently play for the University of Minnesota, name them.

A frustrated Gopher fan sitting near the rear of the first deck could have been heard muttering, "Two?"

The answer appearing on the board was Sarah Erickson and Bethany Brausen.

The same fan muttered, "What about Kortum?"

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

There are three North Dakota recruits playing in the Warroad/South St. Paul game being played right now:

Warroad has juniors Kayla Gardner and Lisa Marvin vs. South St. Paul senior Sam LaShomb.

But the star of the game so far has to be SSP's freshman goalie (Sydney Conley) who has come up with several huge saves to keep the game scoreless...

According to Let's Play Hockey, Warroad sophomore defenseman Lynn Astrup is also headed to Grand Forks.

Just one more another reason to pull for South St. Paul! ;)

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

It's amazing that Breck school can be so good each year with seemingly no down years and only 300 kids enrolled.

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

It's the Raiders and the Skippers in the AA final. Should be a classic battle.

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

An unbelievable finish to the Minnetonka-Lakeville North game. Watched it online and had a sinking feeling when North went ahead with about 5 minutes left. Skippers relentlessly attacked at the end (and survived a close empty net goal attempt) and scores with 20 seconds left in regulation. Tightly played OT, but the winning goal was beautiful and the goalie (sorry can't remember player names) started the play up getting to the wing and went in and put it top shelf for the game-winner.

The Prep 45 feed is really nice with good production value. I assume it's the same broadcast that's on regular TV back in the Cities.

Going to Game #2 of Wisconsin-Makato tonight so have to miss the title game. Do they archive those broadcasts?

Go Skippers!

I would tend to think not, because they sell DVDs of the games. It would kind of undermine the product to also be giving it away at the same time. However, at $25 per game, it is something more likely to appeal to Mom and Dad or Grandma and Grandpa than the average fan.

I have no idea how she performs during the rest of the season, but this kid sure has stepped up at crunch time over the past two state tournaments.

She also had a goal and a first assist in Tonka's 2-1 overtime victory over BSM in the Section 6AA final.
