Minnesota Girls High School Hockey 2019-20 Season

D2D

Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey
The 2019-20 high school season gets underway tomorrow evening with a slate of 15 games. Chief among them is a marquee matchup between two of the top teams in the state, Andover and Edina at Braemar Arena (7:00pm start). The two teams have a total of 15 D1 recruits between them, so for those of you living in and around the Twin Cities this should be a fast-paced and exciting game to go see. Here are the D1 recruits for each team, their position and grad year, and where they are headed:

Andover High School (7)
Madison Clough (D) 2021 Yale
Peyton Hemp (F) 2021 Minnesota
Halle Fields (F) 2021 Sacred Heart
Jamie Nelson (F) 2020 Minnesota State
Kennedy Little (D) 2020 Maine
Gabby Krause (F) 2021 Minnesota Duluth
Madison Kaiser (D) 2022 Minnesota

Edina High School (8)

Kylie Roberts (F) 2021 Boston University
Emma Conner (F) 2021 Penn State

Uma Corniea (G) 2023 Princeton

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey 2019-20 Season

While watching the border battle this past weekend it occurred to me that with all the talent on the ice, the most impressive players were products of class A schools. And in addition to Zumwinkle (Breck) & Heise (Red Wing) there was Scobee (Breck) prevailing over last years NCAA championship goalie and Skaja (New Prague) all over the ice giving the Badgers fits, literally, one of them eventually lost her cool.

Natalie grew up in Eagan, but actually attended Eastview HS. A case could be made that she was an Eagan high school star, but not an Eagan High School star.
Duly noted.

I believe Darwitz DID attend Eagan High School. Eastview opened in 1997. Its girls' hockey team has never advanced to the state tournament but Eagan did in 1997 and 1998. I was a close follower of the Roseville Area High School teams of that era (Ronda and Renee Curtin) and attended both of those tournaments. I distinctly remember Darwitz ringing one off the cross bar from just inside the blue line, a remarkable shot for that era.

Eastview has been to state tourney at least 3 times...all with Snodgrass..

and FWIW, Eastview is a high school whose boundaries take in both Apple Valley and Eagan students, I'm pretty sure she lived within those boundaries.
kids in Eagan can end up in at least 4 different high schools depending on where they live within the city without transferring (Eagan, Eastview, West St Paul, and Burnsville) across 3 different school districts (191, 196, 194)

definitely one that got away if you are a Gopher fan

Skipps off to a fast start. :)

Indeed they are. They were impressive in last year's State Tournament and have continued that into this year including Saturday's win over Warroad 9-4.
Tonka has had a bit of a downturn (by their standards) these past few years but by all accounts they are back. This upward trend should continue under the direction of their new coach, former Gopher captain Tracy Cassano.

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey 2019-20 Season

As the holiday break is underway, time to focus some attention on the girls hockey prep scene here in the State of Hockey. Some nice match-ups tonight highlighting some D1 recruits...

Benilde-St Margaret's vs Blake - Gopher and Cornell rectruits of interest
Wazata vs Edina - Gopher and ECAC (esp. Clarkson) rectruits
Andover vs Rogers - Andover with the big three for the Gophers, Mankato, and UMD (although I think Gabby Krause is hurt)
Farmington vs Eagan - Gopher and UMD recruits

Trying to fit one of these games into the schedule tonight.

Also on Thursday you've got Forest Lake vs. Andover which should be a good one.

I am going to try to get to that game.

Did wind up going to the Farmingtion vs Eagan game which Farmington won 3-2. A little disappointed in not seeing Claire Enright as she was not dressed. Talking to some Farmington parents it sounds like she has been very sick for the last few days. Brenna Fuhrman(UMD) and Jayden Seifert(MSMU) logged a ton of ice time for Farmington and you can see their D1 skating ability.

Blake squeaked by BSM 1-0
Andover over Rogers 5-1
Edina tops Wazata 4-1

Did not get to see the Andover - Forest Lake matchup in person but fortunately, the game was streamed on Prepspotlight.tv. (the stream is available for replay on the site).

Andover wins 3-1 and Gabby Krause returned from a 6 game absence due to injury.
