Minnesota Girls High School Hockey 2019-20 Season

Good to see summer hockey is alive and well for future D1 commits and hopefuls. Credit goes to Winny Brodt for pulling this together (24 teams!) in such a difficult time. Since many of the games are being streamed it's a great opportunity for fans of all college teams to "scout" their incoming players from Minnesota. Rosters and schedule here:

Love it! Kids including college ones need activities. Summer hockey is not covered by USA Hockey. USA Hockey needs to speak out on its plans or lack thereof for the coming year. Tick.Tock, the time is running out.

It has been very well organized & efficient. Colleges could learn a thing or two from Os!

NAHA Debacle...

It is my understanding that a smaller (due to covid and no canadian teams) NAHA turned away 2 teams from Minnesota on Friday am. Have not heard the details and what ended up happening as a whole but rumor is complaints from a Boston area team NOT in the tourney complained about something and the team was told that they could not play. 2 girls called my daughter crying to tell her Friday. Not good...someone dropped the ball or miscommunicated with someone.

Anyone hear any details? I looked at the rosters before the MN teams were deleted and it was not a particularly strong group imo but I am sure that they would have represented well enough. Good thing it was only 2 teams...

Heard it had something to do with travel restrictions into CT where tourney was held. Minnesota currently on the “do not travel” list and someone snitched. Either Naha organizers or Os staff should’ve been aware of the potential issue before families booked trips for the weekend. Teams from other states like IL & WI did not go for those reasons. Tough situation.

Yea, if you are not from out east, it is a big risk to travel there. Surprised any of those tournaments are actually running. Who is banned from travelling and who is not changes nearly daily it seems.

But considering there were several players from “banned” states playing for Selects Academy and even the host NAHA, it was unfair to DQ the teams from MN. If you’re going to be strict about the guidelines then it should apply to all teams & players.

Those darn quarantine lists could be the answer. I also read on an earlier summer tourney that New Hampshire Attorney General was looking into out of New England teams playing there.

The bigger Question is did the rest of the Prep School student body sign up to be exposed to players who traveled out of state. That's the question haunting prep schools this fall.

Rumor has it, if you leave certain prep school campuses you have to quarantine when you return. That's at least what I'm hearing at some prep schools.
