Minneapolis Frozen Four Suggestions/Recommendations

StPaulSam

Goldy Gopher's aide-de-camp
For those of you coming to Minneapolis for the first time (or the first time in a long time), I wanted to start a thread for anyone coming who might want suggestion about places to eat or things to do.

Looking forward to seeing you all in Gold Country really soon!

I've been waiting for you to do this!
Where's a good place for me and my two sons (15yo and 17yo) to watch NCAA Basketball games on Friday before Hockey and Saturday. We are staying in the 3rd ave/5th ave Washington Ave area (Mill District?)

Also, a good place for my 17 yo to get a haircut on Saturday?

Yeah that's mill district. I don't know the bars down that way that might have it on. Closer to Ridder there are a few bar-ish places in Dinkytown that you might try. Sally's or Stub and Herbs in Stadium Village (Washington and Oak, more or less) are good options and a quick walk to Ridder.

There is also a Great Clips in Dinkytown if that's the kinda place you're looking for. I use a salon that's quite a ways from campus and a little bit pricier (40ish and up) but they might have some openings.

Google Maps is showing the Stone Arch Bridge as closed - is that true and why?
fixing it up! huge PITA for me, super easy way to get downtown on foot. https://www.dot.state.mn.us/metro/projects/stonearchbridge/index.html

if you haven't seen it, the Mill City Museum is a lot of fun for kids and adults, plus some of the best views in the city.

Check out Wally's on 14th in Dinkytown if you like Mediterranean food. No alcohol there, but a pub just across the street.

I'll add that if the three games this weekend aren't enough:

Augsburg University (near the west bank side of the UMN Minneapolis Campus) is hosting St. Norbert College on Saturday at 3:00pm for D3 Women's Tournament Quarterfinal Action.

tickets are $10 and if you're primarily dependent on transit this weekend, the route 2 and route 7 buses both run right by the arena. Or it's a gentle walk from the West Bank light rail station (or the Courtyard Hotel near there) through the West Bank of the UMN campus.

I understand that Annie's Parlour was closed for an extended time during the Pandemic. Has is fully reopened?

Sam, belated thanks for confirming. We also did Sally’s Saloon on Washington Ave. Good breakfast burrito.
