Re: Middlebury at Williams, Tues, Feb 9 at 7PM

on one side, remy. on the other side, common sense.

some things never change.

No common sense would be YOU realizing what he was talking about and just shutting up and not soundling like a moron bikering over something so small....some things never change.. understand you're upset...

If the hysterics are over and done with, where does this leave the top three teams in the NESCAC standings?

Nice to see a good turnout for the game in Williamstown. #1 seed in the NESCAC tourney will come down to the final game.

Re: Middlebury at Williams, Tues, Feb 9 at 7PM

My recap of the game.

Midd had a slight, but noticeable enough advantage in the first period. With that in mind, both teams had their chances to score, if the puck bounced right, or shots were placed well enough. Looking at the box score, Williams scored a 4x4 and a 4x3. I thought both were 4x3, maybe a penalty just ended?
Williams came out in the second and really started to take control of the ice and had some high scoring chances. They were able to get maybe 4 or 5 takeaways in their offensive zone, but were not able to put the biscuit in the basket. Out of nowhere, Midd took the puck down the ice and kept it in the Williams zone for about a minute. A loose puck in front ended up in the net. If I remember correctly, Williams took the faceoff puck and tried to get the 2 goal lead right back, but were not able to. On Midd's next rush down ice, they were able to tie the score. Midd took the lead on a nice cross ice pass on a PP where Williams was diving all over the place to block the puck. This left a guy open and he buried it.
The 3rd period belonged to Midd. Williams was just out everythinged in the period, and they looked dazed at times. When they were able to move the puck up the ice, there was always another Middlebury player behind the next. Thusly, Williams really didn't get any good shots. Williams had a golden chance with 6:30 left in the game as a guy was open down low, but the Midd goalie came across and blocked the puck(or the Williams player missed the puck, too far away for my eyes.)
The Midd goalie really stepped up after the first two goals. Williams did have some really good chances down low, especially in the 2nd period. It was a rare period which Williams dominated at times, but was not able to come in front, on the scoreboard.

Enjoy the snow tomorrow, they're closing many of the schools in Cinccy already. haha

Ace, excellent recap, thanks.

I'd like to add that the scoreboard problem was, IMHO a factor in the game. The middle digit in the penalty remaining clock on the visitors side was not functioning. It looked as if the Middlebury bench was confused, the people in the penalty boxes were confused , and even the refs were confused, I don't even know if they got it right! But in the midst of all the confusion,Williams scored two goals. It seems to me that a college with a billion dollars in endowments could have a decent scoreboard, or at the very least keep the old one in good repair!

Dear announcer guy:

it is called the neutral zone, not the "neutral ice area".

Thanks,

An annoyed Williams fan

Dear George,

I am feeling a little under appreciated, my friend :)

You got after me two years ago when Middlebury beat Williams 2-1 down at The Landsing-Chapman Rink...I know it is frustrating when you have a very good team and they come up short against a rival (we Middlebury fans were very frustrated losing to Norwich this past Friday, so we know the feeling).

I do the road games for Middlebury solo and If I am fortunate enough to be broadcasting in two years when Middlebury is at Williams again, and if you are going to be at the game, I would like to extend an invitation to join me on the air to call the game...you seem like a decent chap and are as passionate for your team as I am mine.

Good luck the rest of the way!

heh, I was a bit hard on you I think. I thought in the 3rd period you did a good job. Thanks for the invite, maybe someday I'll take you up on it.

Congrats on the win.
