mid-season title pick!

Re: mid-season title pick!

While I want to say Oswego, I'd have to go with SNC. They're a perennial powerhouse, and have the will to win especially after coming so close last year. Other teams like Mahattanville just don't seem as hungry for it as SNC. As for Platty they're looking at needing an at large bid if the SUNYAC continues they way it has so far which with Dan Jones finally firing on all cylinders and Beckwith set to return soon, things should look good for the Lakers who I'm guessing will go about as far as they did last season.

Just remember that they still have to play the Cardinals on their own ice, playing much better team hockey than they were when they went to Oswego. I truly hope Beckwith is healthy and able to play BEFORE game in Plattsburgh - that way there can be no whining about "You beat us when our #1 Goalie was out" or "Beckwith was still rusty after his long absence" :)

And yes, I realize it will take a lot more than a win over the Lakers to get the SUNYAC AQ (although it may come down to 1 game against the Lakers in the end). But I wouldn't call an at-large bid out of the question for Plattsburgh, either.

This is going to be an interesting semester in the SUNYAC. I just wish I weren't going to be watching it from afar...

Plattsburghs stretch
Curry (was 18th)
#14 Neumann (was 7th)
#7 Norwich (was 1st)
#3 Williams
#8 Geneseo
#2 Oswego (was 1st)
Elmira (was 6th)
Middlebury (was 4th)
@ Buff State (was 15th)
@ Morrisville (was 27th)
Plus @ Fredonia
and Home against an always pesky Potsdam team....

I'm not sure any one has a tougher road. The only "maybe" gimme games is Brockport and Cortland, and even then......Hobart had a hard time with Brockport and had to settle for a tie with Cortland. Neumann needed a goal with just :46 seconds left in the game to beat Cortland.

The way this year is shaping up, Plattsburgh could have five or six losses and easily get an at-large bid. Remember, they haven't lost out of conference this year and they have three nice wins OOC with two against Norwich and one against Neumann.

If Plattsburgh beats Elmira on Saturday, they'll have a pretty nice resume if they only drop one more game or two.

Re: mid-season title pick!

Call me a homer or whatever you will, but don't forget about the Utica Pioneers either.

They're 9-4, but look at their losses:
Neumann 5-4 in what might be one of the best games i've ever seen.
Oswego 3-1, 2-1 in what were both very, very tight games that were decided by inches(literally).

And i'm not going to discuss our loss to elmira, although given the circumstances getting killed on the road doesnt look so bad. they dressed 11 freshmen who were playing in a hostile building for the first time at this level. that's tough. the shot count was even, it's just that elmira's shots all found nylon and utica's did not.

Also would like to point out that they have beaten both hobart and manhattanville. As well as a buffalo state team that is greatly improved from last year. And they're doing it with 13 freshmen on the roster.

We'll definitely be in the hunt to make the ncaa tournament this year. (and if they do, look out.)

if it doesnt happen this year, i'd be very, very scared of this team for next year.

however, if i had to pick someone else.... i'll (grudgingly?) go with the valiants of manhattanville.
