Michigan Wolverines 2015-2016 Season

Re: Michigan Wolverines 2015-2016 Season

Home and Home with the Buckeyes starting tonight.

Can we keep in track for the B1G regular season? And just as important, can we keep solidly in the hunt for an at large bid?

I know we panned the D pretty badly last week for the loss- but honestly, the do seem to be playing better. That 3-2 OT loss could have been 5-2 3rd period meltdown- especially when Racine lets a soft one in like that.

The passing and offense from the passing is what really let us down Friday. Can be fixed- based on what we have seen.

You guys sitting at 6 should be a lock unless a complete meltdown happens over the next 2 weekends. See you guys in a few hours hoping for 2 good games this weekend.

Are you coming up, or just going to the game at Nationwide?

Expect a high-scoring ****show where no defense whatsoever is played. That's what usually happens in this game.

Wow, I could not have been more wrong about the progress. That was the most pathetic game I've seen our team play in quite some time.

Other than the first few min where we scored, we were out played, out hustled, out thought, out hit, etc.

Worse yet, the team pretty much showed that if you can mentally get under their skin, they become totally ineffective.

Must have been the worst practice week ever.

A few posts previously it was pointed out that Wiseman is doing most of the in game coaching.
THIS one was certainly a ringing endorsement of his chances of following Red.

I find it very interesting that Billy Powers name wasn't brought up in that conversation.

I wonder if any of this retirement talk had an impact.

We could have easily left it until post season- when it really matters. But no, some odd curiosity to just know forces people do look into this- and any drama with the coaches can have an impact on the team- be it from the coaches or the players side.

Now that someone let the cat out- no way of getting it back in the cage....

I'm sure it is in the back of the team's mind. Red has been pretty salty with the media, so it appears to be a distraction. But geebus, they were terrible last night. No disrespect to the Bucks because they took advantage of it, but I have not seen a Michigan team lay down like that in a while.

Unrelated to that, but equally bad was the officiating. If I do not see Brian Aaron do another game at Yost, I'll rejoice. The interference majors are an anomaly of trying to prevent injuries, but the goalie interference waive off? They spent twn minutes fly specking that to find something. Total crap show by the B1G ten.

The defense has been terrible all season

I couldn't believe the 2nd period. It was all I could do to not leave at the 2nd intermission.

As far as I am concerned they need to put a time limit on video reviews. If it is not inconclusive it shouldn't take long. If it DOES take a long time then how on God's green Earth can they claim it is not inconclusive? If it is inconclusive then the original call stands.

Also from my vantage point it sure looked like Aaron was trying to "Sell" the goalie interference call. I could not see the screen they were looking at but they kept going back and Aaron kept putting his finger on the screen pointing out something he was seeing. They did that several times.

But, HEY, what can you expect from a B1G ref? They are upholding the fine tradition of the worst referees in the country do B1G games regardless of what sport is under discussion.

Man, to have been a fly on the wall in your guy's dressing room during 2nd intermission. I'd bet Red was HOT! Probably would have scorched my ears!

The irony to that statement is Ohio State fans always believed the refs loved you guys a LOT more than us, especially with how tight Red & Piotrowski have always been!

Nebraska-Omaha fans agree.

Re: Michigan Wolverines 2015-2016 Season

Nebraska-Omaha fans agree.

1. They weren't B1G Ten / CCHA refs

2. This was apples to their sour grapes... a puck that mysteriously stayed out of the net in that case would be a physics miracle and the time they took was justified by the importance of the situation. In last night's case, the official is trying to make judgement on whether a player who was trying to deflect a shot, "purposely" interfered with a goalie's ability to make a save. It was as big a mind stretch as any video review would allow, especially since the call on the ice was a goal. In short, Aaron and his partner are incompetent and were looking for something that wasn't there.

I dont know what they saw in that replay but did he ever touch Frey? As a Buckeye fan i think Michigan got the shaft on that call.

Hey, I don't like either team involved in that game. All I know is there are sitcom episodes that don't last as long as that review. FWIW, I agree that if you can't overturn a call after about 30 seconds of review, you have no business overturning it at all.

I guess that's your problem. :p

I don't disagree, but in the case of the UNO-Michigan game, no definitive on ice call was made. The officials were as confused as the players and took it to review. It's one thing to debate whether a goal was scored without any indication. It is entirely another to debate if a goal was scored illegally after it was already ruled a goal. FWIW, it's water under the bridge now, except for the fact that Brian Aaron has proven his incompetence again.

Unbelievably, a win tomorrow and Michigan is back in it for the B1G Championship. MSU shut out the gophers tonight, 5-0.
