Michigan Wolverines 2014-15 season

Re: Michigan Wolverines 2014-15 season

I usually read a previous opponents' thread a day or two after the series to see what they thought of the games. Sometimes one can pick up tidbits of info that weren't in the series thread. Sometimes people like you get all pizzy at people who are obviously trying to rile things up, like this week, so I might keep reading for pure laughter.

Again you think I'm in some kind of bad mood- far from it. I rejoyce in the idea that you can't go away- that you really have some kind of obsession with Michigan. Hilarious.

But I'm not sure why you would bother looking for actual hockey information of the games- based on your posting in game threads, which are largely not about hockey- I don't get the impression that you even care about hockey. Geez- "a day or two" would be Monday. It's Wednesday, and you still come over here? That's absolutely fascinating. Moreso that you care about our opinions so much that you take the time out of your posting life and post in our thread.

I don't care about Minnesota, but I'm quite interested in you posters. Particularly the ones who seem to have a fascination with Michigan.

Go Blue! :)

Re: Michigan Wolverines 2014-15 season

If you had any reading comprehension skills you'd be offended...

You're right. I always make sure my self esteem is directly tied to internet posters I've never met and their take on me.

If you didn't care about MN, you wouldn't reply. Well, back to my popcorn.

My thought exactly. For seeming to want this to end, he keeps it going. But I think it has pretty much run it's course. So to spare everyone else and to avoid completely hijacking the thread, I will end it for now. This could easily continue by my responding to that last post, but meh... I'm bored of it now.

I'm sure I'll be back to annoy this group some more later, so that is something for you to look forward to alfa. :D

Thank you so much, Brent, Tiggsy, Iron, Happy- you've really made my day!!! :) You have graciously let me really make you mad. One poster. You probaly hate Michigan fans with a passion now. Let the hate flow- at the end of the day- you'll still have the same job, with the same other half (or not), and your life will just be angryier. Have a good time! :)

Don't give yourself too much credit. I ain't mad at ya. If anything I feel sorry for you. But good luck with this whole thing you've got going here.

I liked alfa's edit reason "so much fun!"

Yes, and sometimes people who are obviously trying to rile things up get responses that are also obviously trying to rile things up, but they think those posters are being serious. Just because Michigan posters make valid points while playing along doesn't mean we are taking things seriously. It must be difficult for the goofer fans to move into B1G threads, where they find intellectual superiors.

I almost feel bad pointing this out because it has been so entertaining. And the gopher fanbase obsession with us is adorable. I especially enjoyed Slap Shot calling me "consistently obnoxious". It's ok, you can move on now.

Do you really belive what you are posting? Really?

That's just amazing. If I were doing this in the game thread, or maybe your team's thread- I can very much understand that I could be the one thought of running this tanget on.

But you are coming over to OUR team thread. Which takes thought to come over here and spend your theoretically valuable time in our thread.

Again and again, you illustrate a fascination with Michigan. Come out of your little closet, my friend. We have many many non affiliated Michigan fans. You like to call them Walmart Wolverines. You clearly have some fixation with Michgian, putting the effort into coming over here, and trying to bend our opinions. And since you keep coming and posting, you obvisouly care about our opinions.

You have claimed to over this before, but once agian, you are here.

You claim that this has nothing to do with me, yet you are here, posting to what I post. I don't need to give me any credit- you honor me very much by caring about what I think.

Dude, welcome to the club-unlike other schools, we welcome all comers. You want to root and be interested in Michigan, you are very welcome. Having so many fans that have nothing to do with your school is a great problem to have, I think.

Go BLUE!!

(if none of the above were not true- you would not be here...)

Re: Michigan Wolverines 2014-15 season

So, bought my tickets to Friday's game. Looks like a decent group from the Children of Yost will be there (15 or so). Bought tickets near them, waited to long to get tickets next to them though. Cool idea to share a Google doc with where your seats are, so we can try to form a group.

Based on the Wisconsin trip, I shouldn't have any problem working a half day, driving 6 hours (round trip) and watching a hockey game.

Have you been to the rinks at OSU?

If not, and you get to Columbus early enough, see if you can find the rink that the women's team plays at- it's the original varsity rink there Historical reference and all- when I was a kid in the mid 70's- that was the rink my Mite team played at. The summer team was coached by OSU players- like ours is here. My parents even remember some of the players who coached.

And my claim to fame at that rink- sat next to Woody Hayes. Not RIGHT next to- but just down the bleachers from him. Not sure who OSU was playing, though. Even for a life long Michigan fan, that was cool. I was well under 10.

I don't think you're in a bad mood. I just think you have a stick stuck up in an unnatural place. And honestly, I pretty much gave up posting about hockey in the D1 area a while ago. I do most of my hockey talk on GPL (threads, chat, whatever). D1 has gone downhill year since I first joined. However, I do read relevant game information and take note of it.

There is a strong correlation there. Take note...

While UMICH was trying to make a joke, I will point out that you are not exactly helping your own issue. Come to a thread, allegedly to look for hockey information, and then post nothing about it- repeatedly. I don't see that as a good way to make the D1 board go in a better direction. Or any of the theoretical smak talk you post in the game threads. If you want to talk hockey, talk hockey. Such an easy and straightforward thing to do.

If you want to talk smak, then it would be a good idea to figure out how to take it as much as you try to dish it out.

For instance, saying that I have a stick up my rear just because I'm making some fun observations... well, to me that illustrates something much other than arrogance- which is what you pretend to have. The fact that you and some of your cronies come over here just tell us that you are poor winners, and need some kind of assurance from us. You are not going to get that, we've moved on already.

I've been to the Schott a few times before. I've never been to their old rink. I just remember it being funny when some high school tournament had the Schott booked on playoff weekends where aOSU had earned home ice, and they got to play in the tiny old rink.

From our previous CCHA roots, that old rink has a lot of history- OSU was a founding member and used that rink. We can malign it all we want, but compared to the old coliseum that we used to play in- the small building across from Ebel Field- we had similar roots.

For us- it would be nice if there were some recognition there, since 7 of the 9 championships we had came from there. So in that respect, it's a good idea to recognize what other schools had to do to build a hockey program.

Recognition? I do not understand this foreign concept.

Hail and Unite!

While we're at it, let's pave Ferry Field and put up a parking lot.

Funny you joke about that. If I were a die hard, historic OSU fan, I'd be pretty upset of the removal of Ferry Field. 4 Track and Field records in one day by one Jessee Owens is a pretty big deal.

I'm aware of the historical significance of Jesse Owens and Ferry Field that's why I wrote what I did...I would call it a "joke", maybe more of an upsetting observation.

Re: Michigan Wolverines 2014-15 season

Game day- pretty good bet that we will see Racine in the net tonight. And if he plays welll, at least again on Sunday.

It was reported by Spath on Rivals that Red and Steve had a long talk on Saturday. Probably that it's time for him to step up and be the #1 goalie. Kind of hard to deal with goalies that are brilliant for 2-3 game stretch, and then horrid. Racine played well (apparently- I didnt see it) against Minnesota- letting in just one goal.

I wonder if the rest of the team will finally get around to fixing all of the early season problems that have stuck around all season- the stretch where we scored a ton seemed to let them forget- even when we were scored on a lot right back. The gophers pretty clearly illustrated that that good D will easily defeat what we have, since we tend to be weak on D.

One wonders if we will finish the season good enough that 2nd, in the B1G, will be good enough. Or will we take the regular season part?

I think Nagelvoort has been the more consistent goalie (of the two, obviously neither is that consistent or we'd have a starter by now). Racine did play great during that 2nd game vs. the gophers. I would expect Racine to start based on that. It'd be nice if we had the kind of goalie that could steal us a game. Those two years in a row where our top goalie recruit decided on an alternate path have hurt.

As for will 2nd in the B1G be good enough? I doubt it. The conference as a whole has been awful, hurting SoS and PWR. I think only one B1G team makes the tournament this year. Unless somehow a low seed team wins the conference tourney and somehow either us or Minnesota sneaks in with a happy side of the bubble PWR.

If you guys and Minnesota run the table and then meet in the title game of the tournament then i could see both teams getting a bid. Have a safe trip to columbus and please be nice to our struggling hockey team :p

Just watched the UM produced weekly highlight- Red made a really good point about your team, and previous games- you guys were very, very injured- not being able to dress 8 of your players. That's changed now, right? I'm leaning to the idea that your team isn't as bad as your record would imply. Or our recent wins against your team. Could be pretty close.

As for the PWR- this discussion has come up on Rivals, too- one calcualtion suggests that we could make it in as one of the lowest bubble teams if we finish second and even lose on Friday night. That will count on all of the ranked teams to win their conference, sure. I don't see it.

I hope the team thinks like previous seasons- win the dang tournament if you want in.

Re: Michigan Wolverines 2014-15 season

sigh....

I don't understand these kids very well. Watched Inside Michigan Hockey, and all of them say the right things. They all know what's wrong, they like going on the road to build a team. Red knows what needs to be done.

And the team regresses to play like they did at the beginning of the season. And instead of having an OSU team who could not take advantage of that, they did deal with it, and score.

Now its going to be tough.
