Michigan Wolverines 2014-15 season

Re: Michigan Wolverines 2014-15 season

Pretty simple. Eichel's skate was in the crease on goal 1 but he was not impeding the goalie in any way, nor did he make any contact with the goalie. This is allowed. Michigan's player directly made contact with O'Connor's glove as he attempted to make a save in the crease on the disallowed goal. Obviously, this is not allowed. The only thing that was marginally questionable is whether Somerby caused the Michigan forward to make contact with O'Connor. Simply being in the crease is not the rule.

More of an observation to BU's team for the replay. They could do with both better cameras and more of them. It was great that we got so see some highlights of the game, but really couldn't make out what actually happened. A contract with your local sports company who showed the game would be really helpful.

Our highlight packages of late have been abysmal. It's unfortunate that the in-game video quality has tanked in recent years.

Ours *appears* to be getting a different TV feeds. Could be all of the cameras around the rink for the big video screen. Could be.

You guys need a big donor so that you have have a big screen TV to distract the fans and change the lighting on the ice as the displayed ads change. It's interesting. I'll leave it at that.

Maybe we can trade DB Brandon to BU for a pot of Boston Baked Beans? He could help with marketing...

It normally is.

But is there a reason that you expect Michigan fans to be more interested in Tech than most other teams? The Mel Pearson thing is interesting, but when you keep telling us he's never leaving Houghton, then that appeal quickly goes away.

Re: Michigan Wolverines 2014-15 season

I'm not here to make fun of anyone. we had a great time at your rink last year and are looking forward to hosting you. its a big deal up here - Halloween, Stanley Cup is visiting, your first visit in 30+ plus years, the Mel- Red thing, we've sold out the arena, the town and campus are buzzing, we feel we've got evenly matched teams and the games should be good ones. you all seem as interested as in a Bye week. taking us for granted? it feels a little that way.

Re: Michigan Wolverines 2014-15 season

This is our normal level of chatter these years. We don't have a lot of posters frequently posting.

Personally, I'm just sad 'cause I couldn't make a trip to Tech work for me. :(

I'm glad it's getting a lot of buzz in Houghton. It's not going to get a lot of buzz in Ann Arbor. The games aren't being played here, Tech is not a rival, nor a B1G team, therefore the majority of Michigan 'fans' don't think of this as an important series. Too many Michigan fans would rather see a game vs. a crappy OSU team than a good Tech team.

I believe most of us that do post here respect this series, the match up of Red vs Mel, the history we have with Tech, and that Tech is off to a good start. But don't expect the UofM community at large to care.

We've had the Stanley Cup at Yost, too. I even have a picture of it with my wife and I. So that's not appealing.

You keep telling us that Mel's never coming back, so that ship sailed. Intresting, but not overly appealing.

Tech is one of many other schools in the state of Michigan that isn't Michigan State. While the games are interesting, it's not going to get any more coverage and interest than a game with Ferris (which we lost), Lake State (which we used to lose on a regular basis with), Western, or Northern. Nobody is taking it for granted. Just not so appealing compared to other things that are going on.

Hockey fans at Michigan learned a LOOOOOONNNNGGG time ago that this is a football school. Then BB. Then Hockey. In spite of 9 National Championships, and so many seasons in a row making the NCAA, etc etc etc. We learned to deal with it. Why is it so hard for fans outside to see that and deal with it too?

It's great that Hockey is #1 in Houghton. It's not in Ann Arbor. Never will be.

Possibly. I wouldn't be surprised if hockey made a big comeback if UMI got back to your winning ways (FrozFours plus). And if I were a betting man I'd say that that will be happening in about 5 years.

I appreciate the thinking. But that shift in thought will never happen, even if we win 3-4 hockey championships in a row with a struggling grid-iron program. Football is that big. And, honestly, that's ok.

You seem to be searching for attention, are you sure that you aren't a sparty? As others have said, Hockey IS NOT king here. Some of us (i.e. streaker, alfa, wT, me...) love hockey first and foremost but not everyone is that way. Football receives the most attention (although you wouldn't know it by watching them play) and hockey is just a niche sport. Also, it is Homecoming in ann Arbor this weekend. There are only a handful of regular posters here anyway, there's no way that there'd would be more with that football powerhoues Indiana coming to town (God I hope we win). You're not a historical rival, most fans don't know who Mel is nor do they care, be happy that the few people here acknowledge your existance. It's like this with evey school and frankly we get tired of your crying.

There are other things to do in a civilized society than talk about college hockey on the internet.

Honestly, basketball garners more attention even when it shouldn't.

No disrespect to Tech, but the casual Michigan fan sees them at the GLI every year and doesn't see them playing in April. Hopefully one of these days they will make it back to the bigtime and make this series more than just another nonconference series on the schedule. Ferris seemed to do that.

Thank you pop culture.

Anyway, team made a lot of improvements in the last few weeks, we should see more of that this weekend. If Copp can find the back of the net, finally, the rest of the offense is getting good pressure. The real question is the pattern of good backcheking that wT saw in Lowell will still be going on, and if it's more of it.

Nagelvoort played a lot better last weekend, but I expect both he and Racine will get time in the net this weekend. Odd to see a goalie roatation- it's been so very rare here since I started watching. But if it works, well, can't argue that.

Looks like Comcast 900 may be showing some game. They have it listed at Michigan @ Ferris... oops. So is it ours, or another game?

Huskyfan a Sparty?? Sure, and Brady is the reincarnation of Bo. Clearly she made a mistake walking into this thread to talk a little UM - MTU hockey. Her reception might explain why there are few posts.

And some folks say that Michigan fans tend to be arro . . . never mind, that's too easy.

I thought she does have some allegiance to the Spartans.

We're not arrogant...we're just better than you.

Re: Michigan Wolverines 2014-15 season

:) huskyfan IS a Sparty alum. so see, I get double for pulling your chain! :) thats sad for your school, with its long and fine hockey tradition, that there isnt more interest in the program. I know football is the big big big dog, but still. good luck tonight. may the best team win.
