Michigan Wolverines 2014-15 season

Re: Michigan Wolverines 2014-15 season

With the resignation of Michigan's AD, Michigan hockey can return to being a perennial powerhouse.

That would be nice but it will take some time to get the students back. I still want a layer of wood put over the stands to give us the old feel and smell of roasted almonds...

Yah, I was not a fan of Yost the Tin Box last year. Sorry to say that I think the remodel did nothing for the character of the building.

Should be an interesting game tonight. The Mac's gonna come off its foundation if the Mighty Techsters can take it to 6-0.

I don't know what else you can do to improve an aging former track and field / basketball building. The bleachers needed replaced and the lighting is much better. Short of tArrogance of certain former W fans that think you need a 20000 seat building w/ cushy seats and beer, what else were they to do? ;)

I'm dearly hoping that with this recent change in administration that we can 1) lose the goal horn, and 2) drop the "power play brought to you by" thing. I really dislike the fact that the changing ads on the big screen changes the lighting on the ice, but that's somewhat ok. The goal horn sucks.

Once again, our weaknesses are exposed. Tech got on the board first, kept our higher quantity shots to be poor enough quality to not matter, poor power play, and for some reason the team play in front of Zach isn't as good. Again, put that all up against a really good team like Tech is this year, and the game isn't that close. What we thought was some hope from last weekend hasn't progressed enough.

Still have time to fix things, but wonder how deep the hole we'll have to climb out of.

I agree that we exposed the weaknesses, didn't bury the chances we had at times. But Jamie saved the team's bacon at times too. I think it could have easily been a 4-1 Tech lead after the first, but if Jamie wasn't on his A-game, UM could've had a 3 or 4 goal 2nd period.

Looks like the WCHA is the hockey version of "little brother" beating up on the not so big ten "big brother" again. WCHA 9 little ten 3 and one tie.

Going into this weekend I knew our football team was better than Michigan. Our hockey team is better too!

Like I said, Yost isn't the same. No students, different feel in the building. It just isn't Yost.

Actual seats would be a massive upgrade for Yost. :) ;)

I want to thank Michigan for coming to Houghton. It meant a lot for our program and our fans, as well as the local community. I don't think the rink has been sold our for 20 years before this weekend. so kudos' to coach Berenson for bringing the team up.

I would agree that the bleacher type seats are a negative, otherwise I think it's ok. I go to maybe 4 or 5 games a year at Yost and my biggest issue is parking to tell the truth.

Yost is a terrific place to watch a game, unless you're a fan of the opposing team. Then the welcoming you get ranges from rude to vulgar. Ann Abor fans make those in Philly that threw snowballs at Santa Claus look downright friendly.

I think you meant Wisconsin or North Dakota. The rudest fanbases I have ever encountered. UMD ranks up there too, with the coins and batteries that have been tossed in my direction at the old DECC.

I've never had a problem at Yost, other than the ticketing and the parking. The rink staff has always been accommodating and even above and beyond at times. Sure they have some bad apples here and there, but what fanbase doesn't?

Something that was too long in coming, if you ask me. If not for the GLI, we would have never seen each other in the last 30 years.

Actual seats are for NHL teams. This is college, we'll stick with the bleachers thank you very much. DB Brandon already took out all of the history out of that place. We just got rid of that jerk and you want us to go more corporate?

Tongue in cheek, dude.

But if you want me to keep going, Tech, Minnesota, etc. has actual seats. Feels nice, looks nice. :) Just sayin'.
