In hindsight he probably got better development with the Pioneers than with Russell, so Russell actually did him a favor.

Yea, he really sucks. Down for two games in the ECHL with five points in two games and gets called back up to the AHL; he's brutal. The majority of other recent MTU hockey alumni are where? What league?

I'm guessing that he is not ready for the AHL right now.

Just as he may have not been ready to play D! when Russell look at him.

Did he try "walking on" more then once?

Some guy in California tell that he told OJ that he wouldn't make in football either, course he was only 8 at the time.

I agree - If you think having a "better" coach, if only for a short time is a great idea compared to having a lesser coach who is in it for the long haul, just look at the revolving door that Tech went through in the 1990s and early 2000s and let me know how you think that went. Other than the 1992-93 team that Bob Mancini was handed for his first season, it wasn't pretty when the coaches came and went like the wind (although Mancini did motivate the team to three Frozen-Five appearances in just four seasons including the famous #10 beats #1 CC series).

A high profile coach might get you a few recruits, but if he isn't there to coach them what good are they. You're banking on the fact that the next coach will want the same type of game/players. All that being said, I think there is a far better chance that Russel gets a contract extension rather than getting fired.
