Michigan Tech post season thread, hunting for hardware!

Re: Michigan Tech post season thread, hunting for hardware!

It is one of only 2 games that will not be on ESPNU or ESPN2 this weekend...sad for sure...
Especially considering it will be one of the best games to watch.

I can't go to Fargo. I could have gone to any other regional. So I'll be watching as best I can.

I like our team though. I wouldn't trade it for any other one.
Personally I prefer the old " Let's go Tech" cheer, not the new one. It's good to be under the radar a bit.

Re: Michigan Tech post season thread, hunting for hardware!

Ok, so I have to confess to being a dumb ***, I thought the second day was Sunday so my flight out is on Monday, so I get all of Sunday to explore the wonders of Fargo.

Re: Michigan Tech post season thread, hunting for hardware!

highlights of the 1981 NCAA Consolation game victory over NMU in Duluth
0:23 some of the band is wearing the original red striped bib overalls
2:28 the old car horn serenade that used to follow the fight song can be heard
Being a former band member, I can tell you that the car horns survived well into the 1990s, but not without the hard work of many EE students over the years. Also the red/white coveralls were specific to certain sections of the band. This also continued into the mid-1990s when then director Jeff Bell-Hanson finally was able to secure funds for the ENTIRE band to receive new back / gold coveralls with the Huskies Pep Band logo on the front pocket. Here are the section colors as I remember them:
Concussion (drumline) and (s)Trumpets - skinny stripe rainbow colors
(tu)BAs, woodwinds - Navy / gold wide stripe
(Trom)Bones - Red / white wide stripe

Once again AWESOME!!!! This stuff is invaluable to my research. I hope you don't mind if a grab some screen shots for my website down the road. Lots that I can learn from that video. Already one thing I picked out shown below. I thought there was a good chance that I had a gold jersey from this game. However when I saw the first screen shot I was a bit disappointed because the #28 uses a style of 2 with a diagonal element (not like an upside-down 5 with a horizontal center). However when I was trying to capture the screen shot, the video went about a second too far and #12 skates info view with a totally different style of 2 which matches my jersey. Further searching found me a #22 and finally #2 of the same style. Far too grainy to conclude anything 100% for sure, but certainly it is still a possibility it might be from that season.

Re: Michigan Tech post season thread, hunting for hardware!

amidst all the hoorah this weekend, did anyone mention David Johnstone joined the century club? Congratulations to him! He will be missed next year, as all the seniors will be.

Re: Michigan Tech post season thread, hunting for hardware!

I don't recall what year exactly we got the new coveralls, but clearly we had them in 1996. The top photo is the Pep Band playing in the upper bowl of the Bradley Center for the Milwaukee Admirals (IHL) hockey game in Milwaukee. This was the day after MTU was eliminated from the Final Five which was also held at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee that year. The bottom photo is taken behind the MUB (loading dock in the background).

Re: Michigan Tech post season thread, hunting for hardware!

Any talk of Fox Sports Detroit picking up the Friday regional game being carried by ESPN3?

When NMU played SCSU in 2010, the local MQT ABC 10 station picked up the simulcast of the ESPNU feed. I would expect ABC10 in Marquette or CW5 from Calumet to pick up the simulcast (as long as they're asked to).

Awesome mullet in those pics, you look just like Billy Ray Cyrus ;)

Re: Michigan Tech post season thread, hunting for hardware!

For those of you Tech fans who've been hosed by this: work online to see if you can route around the cable system login / IP checks, and failing that, maybe see if a bar with the right cable system in Houghton will stream it. [Before you laugh, only one telco here has it, and I would be doing the same looking thing.]

Good luck!

I also played a lot of hockey in college, so good "flow" was mandatory. It lasted until I started doing job interviews, then I had to start looking the part of cubical rat instead of rink rat.

Since espn has gone to almost all games being on espnu/espn2 they have not allowed simulcast of any games.

For those on the MTU campus, ESPN3/ESPNU should be available to watch online. Again, that was the case five years ago at NMU.

I thought ESPN3 was free to all without a subscription, but I could be wrong.

I believe it is free to students, but not to everyone.

Re: Michigan Tech post season thread, hunting for hardware!

first, you have to have a cable system that carries ESPN3, then you need to pay for the game broadcast, then it gets streamed to you. there is no TV carriage. we don't have cable in Arizona, so first off we're screwed. we would gladly pay and stream to the TV if we could. have called every sports bar listed in Tucson and not one carries the Trip. **** ESPN.

Re: Michigan Tech post season thread, hunting for hardware!

Ed, you and Sharon better get there and fill in for Tom and I. be loud!!

I don't have to pay to get to the ESPN3. I just have to log in with my username and password associated with my cable account.

I may be able to hook you up with something, but I'll have to play around with it first, before I know for sure if it'll work. Only because it's you guys and you deserve to watch your game. :)

espn3 is not a channel, no one "carries" it. If you have a pay TV subscription most of the big players give you access to espn3 through watchESPN. WatchESPN is free, but you have to authenticate your pay video service. If you pay a cable bill to the right company, it costs nothing extra to watch online. I have dish so I have access on my iphone, iPad, Apple TV, Google Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV and Roku.

you have the right cable system. we called ESPN, DISH, Direct, ComCrash and all the sports bars. aparch, some sports bars have online streaming ...

Re: Michigan Tech post season thread, hunting for hardware!

http://espn.go.com/watchespn/index#type/upcoming/sport/hockey/startDate/20150327/

I am not logged into WatchESPN, but it did recognize that I am accessing it via Comcast's internet.

It shows four games streaming on WatchESPN. Three of them have a key next to them meaning that you need to confirm your cable company information to watch. The fourth game, MTU/SCSU is on ESPN3 only and does NOT have a key icon next to it. Again, I don't know if that's because I'm accessing it on Comcast's internet, but it doesn't make me log in.
