Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

Ryan J must still be busy cornering the market on these things. Eagerly awaiting his analysis on how closely they actually match with their '70s inspiration.

Sorry for the delay chiming in. I'm in Salt Lake City and the Mor-mens don't let you have internet access to look at racy things like new hockey jerseys. You have to get outside the city limit to see such things. I also want to give a quick "I'm sorry" to the town of Herriman, UT which caught fire immediately after I first saw this jersey design... because it is "hot". I'll give it thumbs up since we are going for a classic look and thus it shouldn't be anything new or shocking. Regarding the nameplates, most of the jerseys back then had contrasting color plates with single color names. Or maybe this is the modern NHL style, ala the Flyers.

Contrasting color plates, but BELOW the numbers (1980s vintage)

But seriously, to say this jersey is a copy of the 1970s only holds water if you are of the mindset that copy means the jersey has numbers and "Huskies" across the front. But you can be the judge below. I'll work on a more formal analysis when I'm back in Cheeseland tomorrow. The real question is does the team now "Go Wild with the Whites" and give us something totally new? Or was the black design "radical". The black didn't go far enough to please me in terms of being our "new" jersey since so many teams have done similar. I'm looking for a whole new "angry Huskies dog" to suit my taste buds. If Piano Dog was the 1990s radical change, what are we getting for this new era of Tech hockey?

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

Another new addition on the way.
Now I just need a Rangers jersey to get caught up...

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

The gold jerseys are out.

On the downside, this means it will be another couple years before I lobby again for a copper metallic/dazzle jersey for the alt design.

Tech has the best of everything, even the best jersey nerd. Thanks for your excellent write up in the Tech Hockey Guide.

They don't have tArrogance. ;)

Just giving you a little ribbing. See y'all in October.

I hope you realize that posting something like that is going to get you "signaturized" for at least one season, minimum.

If Ryan J keeps collecting Scott's jerseys, he's either going to be broke or have one of every jersey. :D

If he ever comes across one (since I trust him more than the hawks on ebay/etc) A Scott jersey would be awesome to own.

MN being MN, yeah, my budget couldn't cover that in any situation. :(

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

I am happy for John Scott, but how frustrated must Chris Conner be by now.

I hope he signs with a lower level team that will finally give him a chance to play 82 games in the NHL.

It will be interesting to see where he signs this year. If with the Wings, he may be giving up hope on making he show regularly.

As for the Wings moves yesterday, YUCK!

Yeah, really goes to show you what NHL teams value... size + no skill or no size + skill

The problem for Conner is that he is pretty limited in where he can play. He doesn't score enough at the NHL level to play and the first or second line and doesn't have the size to play on a checking line. He's a depth guy. 4th line sometimes, suit and tie sometimes and AHL sometimes. Nothing against Chris personally. I really enjoyed watching him play for Tech, but that's about where he stands in the NHL.

That is the fun (and budget draining) part of journeyman pro hockey players... A lot of variety for the collection, but you go broke. Sutton alone will cause me to work a few years past my planned retirement age and Conner is even "worse" if having more jerseys is a bad thing. I'm going to a collectors show out East in a couple weeks and Steiner Sports (who handles the Rangers) will be there so the hole might get even deeper if they have one with nice wear.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

While I may make fun of the goon, and not like any of the jerseys pictured ;), I love seeing collections like that, especially someone who actually cares about collecting and isn't about flipping the jerseys for a profit.

You could likely outfit the whole misfits section or invasion gang in MTU and MTU alumni sweaters. :)
