Michigan Tech Offseason 2014: Nothing To Say

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason 2014: Nothing To Say

I agree, it's beyond stupid to be complaining about this. After realignment, you take what you can get. Plus, road games build character. Look at how green this year's team was on defense, and most of those early road games were one-goal losses.

This altruistic nonsense about banding together is exactly that - altruistic nonsense. It won't work. It's not like the B1G teams will be crying about losing games with the WCHA, because everyone is clamoring to play the B1G - they will simply schedule more games with the NCHC, ECAC, and HEA.

Totally agree. I can't believe Tech fans are complaining about this.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason 2014: Nothing To Say

My argument would be that we need a combination of tough non con games and easier ones. And a combination of home and away non conference games. This year was too extreme.
Agreed. The team is important and money is important but don't forget about the fans. This year's schedule killed off the student fan base with all the away games and NC losses in the fall. The current students have never seen winning hockey—in their lifetimes—so I can't fault them for thinking it was hockey as usual. Don't complain about empty seats in the student section. No one enjoys watching their team get beat, no matter who they're playing. Next year is Mel's fourth season at the helm and I expect a winning record. Is that too much to ask for?

obviously missing GLI dates but other than that it looks good. Really liking the fact that @ Bemidji, @ Mankato and @ Wisconsin are spaced out and none of them conflict with my try to Mexico for a wedding in October!

Now its time to start planning a trip to Houghton for Michigan @ Michigan Tech with the GPL crew.

Who wants in on a suite for that weekend?

Ferris State once and Alabama Huntsville twice is also helpful...

I'm assuming we'll be in. Might have to see if Granny and/or Auntie can watch the LGF so we can go out at night.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason 2014: Nothing To Say

Having looked at the schedule more, Mel must be happy. Good mix of home and road games, no odd byes mixed in, and Mel gets his weekend off after the trip to AK. And a nice long home stand mid Jan-mid Feb.

Not sure he'll like the amount of time off between Thanksgiving and GLI.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason 2014: Nothing To Say

It's really not that much "better" or different, except that Michigan and UMD will travel to Houghton, and a trip to Notre Dame isn't on the schedule. Lack of Michigan State (except, potentially, at the GLI) is a wash. The OOC schedule is still pretty tough, with fairly young Tech, UMD, and Michigan teams all growing a year older. Not to mention starting the conference season on the road.

Alberi Valley Bulldogs announcements include that Jake Kauppila will be back next year.

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs would also like to formally announce that Jake Kauppila, who was originally committed to attend Michigan Tech for the 2014/15 season, is deferring for a season and is expected to be back with the Bulldogs next season.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason 2014: Nothing To Say

Will Tech really bring in 6 forwards now that it appears no one else is leaving.
19 seems like way too many to manage. Some good players likely to get disgruntled. With 17 this past season, it did not help the development of Vallis, Baltus, and Heinonen (after injury)
