Michigan Tech Huskies 2024-25 - OK MacNaughton, Stop Ducking Us

This is for all you car guy engineers. The driver really! knows what he is doing here and this is exactly what the start of a Formula car race is like. Notice the tach, he is shifting at about 10,000 rpm. the car is a Hesketh 308 from the mid 70's. 3 were built. the engine is a Cosworth DFV 3-litre engine of roughly 500 hp in a 1500-pound car. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8RZCcXP_as

Fun fact you should know - Stiven Sardarian has scored the game winning goal in three consecutive games. Stretching my knowledge to find another Huskies player who has done that.

I think the week off was needed. The next 4 weeks they need to be on top of their game. The real season starts Tomorrow.

Agreed, this was the time for a bye week to clean up early season mistakes. They're obviously not going to finish in the bottom of the conference, but the next 8 games will determine whether or not they're likely to be playing for hardware and an NCAA spot.

Well, it wasn't very good the first ten minutes. I thought it was just ok for most of the rest of the game.... until we scored on ourselves.....On their pp goal... i didn't like our pk during that time.We should have been able to clear that rebound. I thought overall it was a tough test for us and our guys tried hard and will get better because of it. I wish we had converted on some of our chances especially early we had some golden opportunities. and i didn't like taking so many penalties in the third. It's hard to stay focussed for a long time and I thought we lost focus late in the game. I hope we get better soon though or it will be a long season.

After tonight's game my expectations have ratcheted back about 5 steps. The best player on the ice for us was Casper V. I thought we had a few other players that played pretty well. Max K played well, and Janssen seems to be progressing, Trever K I thought was pretty good, but man some of the others seem to not be doing much of anything in the way of getting better. I thought the pp was bad, the pk, just ok. It was not as fast paced a game tonight and that helped us but still . We have to be better!

Getting home saturday night might be a problem with the weather around Grayling in the lower being lousy.. Maybe they ought to go part way and stop for a bit.

I went to the Saturday Bg game. My impressions are mostly positive. I thought again that Casper was our best player. And man I noticed him and hertig were on the ice a lot. Hertig has improved. he's smoother, skates more, and the game is flowing better. I think Chase has improved also. Still a ways to go for everyone but he is improving. As far as forwards, I noticed Kukk, Leppa, who in particular was excellent, and Gordon was working hard. He almost had the game-winner during the major. But, and this is true for many of our players. the puck stays on his stick too long. he got the puck, saw a shot, thought about it for a beat, and shot it. It was labeled. the goalie just barely had time to get to it. I thought it was in at first. even a few tenths of a second, he'd have a second goal. in general, we take too long with the puck and we shoot it right at the goalie. Let's at least make him move. .
I liked how some of the freshmen are coming along but some also need to get better before they are not a defensive liability. I wish the coach hadn't shortened the benches quite so much late in the game. . Some of our guys were pretty tired towards the end there. I thought we were the better team throughout the game though and especially in the third. I would like fewer turnovers. BG had a lot of intercepted plays and we could do better at times getting out of our end. Sometimes we basically gave them the puck as a gift to try again. Overall though, not bad.

That was a Lego game if you ask me. You can see all the parts coming into play but they don't quite fit all together yet. Still, some guys played great. Leppa, Kasper, Victor, Max, . I thought that we are seeing progress on some of the younger guys also. Bartle has a ways to go but moving in the right direction, And Raiman really is making his presence felt. So overall pretty good. BSU is very good. they don't make it easy. We have to keep at it though.

Van Andel Arena put out a Facebook event post today revealing that the 59th GLI will be held on Monday December 29 and Tuesday December 30 of 2025. The likely semifinal pairings are Michigan Tech vs Miami in the early game and Michigan State vs Ferris State in the late game.

Well ok. I'm not a fan of either of those teams being in the tournament. if I was God I'd have 1 CCHA, 1 B1G, 1 NCHC, and 1 East Coast team. And once in a while i'd have a third Michigan team. They don't bring many fans from Ferris even though they are close. Are we going to have LSSU in 26?

I would think Ferris would have more fans than Miami. Did many Tech fans travel to the Cactus Cup? Looks like they were too embarrassed to publish the actual attendance in the box scores.

Back in the Olympia and early Joe days, a good eastern school brought a lot to the tournament. I can remember RPI, Harvard and others. That was a good format.

The other teams in 2026 are Western Michigan and Lindenwood. That was originally supposed to be Notre Dame but Brock Sheahan has already pulled the Irish out of the tournament.
