<> Michigan Tech Huskies 2023-24: Is the MacNaughton coming home? <>

Even if one of them was healthy enough to go this Friday, I don't know if you mess with the chemistry in the lineup right now. Maybe as an extra forward, but having Rasmussen there as the PP specialist has paid some dividends.

Totally agree I would not change this line up.. The only change I would make is go 7 D just in case of an injury or someone on the D gets tossed

I said it a few weeks ago but after watching Oakland U last night and what they said about not being a Cinderella, it applies to us as well. Our team, if they play like they did vs BG a month ago, can beat anyone.

BREAKING NEWS

Kyle Kukkonen will dress for the CCHA championship game.

His last appearance was against Bemidji in game 2 of the series in Houghton.

Thanks. Regarding last night, I think we were very fortunate that the refs mostly swallowed their whistles. Both teams got away with what normally would have been called but we got away with more imho.

I also want to point out that the forth line, who had really short shifts all night, got the tieing goal. I thought they were effective every time out.

Things to do in Providence.
Providence is not bad. if you are near the rink, go up the hill, across the freeway, to the Italian section of town and get some actual good Italian food. Not Michigan Italian food. Lot's of good places to try. Second, take a walk thru the campus of Brown and PC. Both are very nice.
if you're inclined, drive down to Newport which is not far,( nothing in Rhode Island is far) and see all the mansions and boats people have. It's going back in time to a bygone era.
Also, traffic between Providence and Boston is horrible. But you can take the train. it's way less stressful and the train stations in both Boston and Providence are convenient. . You could fly into Boston and get the train to Providence easily or you can just fly to Providence.(The the subway in Boston stops at both the airport and 4 stops later the train station)

Well it's hard to be disappointed after the start of the year we had, but still I am. We just gave them too many turnovers, too many looks at the net and in our turn, when we had looks, all we did was shoot it at the goalie. They, on the other hand, shot it at the edges, every time. Second, I didn't think Mosley's penalty deserved a major. it, looked to me like he was actually trying to avoid contact at the end there.

Third, a guy like Jacob Benggston, who played for lssu for 3 years, He played very well today. Without the high quality D they had, there was no way they would win. . I really hate to see small schools turn into farm teams. if that is what it's going to be then we should quit. When teams like BC can basically recruit and play an all star team then you have to wonder if it's worth it to compete. Seriously. What's the point. I also doubt his transfer made his career better long term. He's not getting any more notice from scouts than he had already. . But he did play well.

I think Tech will have to take the 2 and 3 star players (football reference) to remain competitive, and coach them up. Otherwise, like most other college sports, the big schools are going to have an easier time, but I also think hockey is still a bit different, remember how the B10 ran through everyone last year, and Quinnipiac still won it.

However, where I am becoming curious, is if Tech is just content to make the NCAAs. They're still way ahead of my time as a student in the early 00's, but I don't want to think they've hit a wall. Pushing forward, growing, developing a good system.

an observation or two. it seemed that in the first period, we had our typical breakout system and it was working pretty well and we got the puck out in fine style and were able to get into our offense fairly well. We had some good open looks. but about the middle of the second, BC changed how they were forechecking and from that point on we didn't have as much success, had a lot more difficulty getting the puck out and a lot fewer open looks. So the question is, did we change what we were doing in response,( which it didn't seem that we did) or did we just sit there and try to force our system in and live with not being as successful. I would have thought that we might have used two or three systems as the situation dictated, but that did not seem to be the case.
Second, I believe every or nearly every BC goal came on not only a turnover but on a play that occurred due to our D man pinching at what was the wrong time and getting caught up ice. I would have thought we would have prepared for that.

imho even if we, and other ccha teams as well, do get three or four star level players and do coach them up, the problem is that they get poached. I mean, joey Larsen at NMU, he meant a lot to Msu this year and what would NMU have done if he had stayed? Same for Bengsston, he was a big part of Lake State and his loss was felt. I don't think either of those guys were draft picks.
Second, I seriously doubt that anyone in Houghton is happy just to make the tournament. I certainly wouldn't be.
