Michigan Tech Coach Search, Part II: Only We Would Need a Second Thread

Re: Michigan Tech Coach Search, Part II: Only We Would Need a Second Thread

I could see Fogarty being interested, as well as Aiken. There's no chance that it'll be Rud. He was already a WCHA assistant, and left for the Green Bay job. Unlikely that Powers will come along and Mel can certainly do better than Renfrew.

Ron Fogarty will not be an assistant coach at Michigan Tech at any point in the near future.

This. He's already done the assistant coach route.

Well done by MTU! Look forward to them ramping up soon.

Pearson again? That's my guess.

Well done by JSR. I hadn't heard Mel's name for awhile until JSR posted it on Wed.

I don't know what changed, probably money, but I'm excited about the hire!

And well done by Suzanne for getting this done!

In addition to the AD undoubtedly upping the ante, I suspect Mel knows that the Michigan job isn't going to automatically be his.

Re: Michigan Tech Coach Search, Part II: Only We Would Need a Second Thread

Based on some of the past U-M Blogs it's not.

This was just the beginning of Big Blue propaganda of the suspected or potential output i.e. just like no recruit was ever lost (grade concerns, citizenship concerns, backed off etc.) or no game was ever lost (referees, jet lag, crowned field etc.), also no coach is ever lost (was not a slam dunk for the job, in fact many around are better etc.)

Rumor is Cam Ellsworth will apply. But, Pearson will probably hand pick his choice(s). Still don't know whether Whitten is in the picture.

Erin Whitten would certainly be an interesting choice for goalie coach. :)

Congratulations to suzanne on a terrific job.
We'll get a great coach and I'm sure an assistant who is also equally fantastic.
Thanks to a few alumni too for digging down and getting it done.

He has a lot of work to do for sure. I would hope Whitten stays, Damon or Erin.

But one question...Does he work on farm machinery?;)
