Michigan Tech at Denver - Saturday 2/20/10

Re: Michigan Tech at Denver - Saturday 2/20/10

Somebody should tell Sandy DU has 8 Scholar Athletes.

And yes I know, Tech has Eli with his 4.0 in BioMedical Engineering. His write up on the Class Award site is really impressive.

It may be that the tectonic plates have moved sufficiently that the continuous glory years can't be repeated. But being a mid-level WCHA team with an occasional title shot and tournament appearance would appear to be doable.

Don't forget the state of hockey has 0.

this. I would die for.

Yeah, and I don't mean to sound egotistical, deciding who gets to be competitive and who doesn't. But the top 5 programs in the WCHA have a lot of built in advantages that bottom 5 teams have to overcome. It ain't easy. And location and facilities certainly work against you. Look how magically DU returned to elite status: just build an 85 million dollar facility, and suddenly your coach is a much better recruiter.

my panties are really bunched tonight. d^mn! I hate this losing. first I'm sad. then I get mad. then depressed. bipolar hockey madness.

Re: Michigan Tech at Denver - Saturday 2/20/10

Wiercioch gets nailed from behind into the boards to start the 2nd, and we're playin' the feud!

Re: Michigan Tech at Denver - Saturday 2/20/10

Wiercioch checked into the boards. Penalty called. Olson ejected.

Re: Michigan Tech at Denver - Saturday 2/20/10

Olson headed to the showers. Super-liquor break.

Off. The. Rails.

Maiani gets an unsportsmanlike, so we'll be 4 on 4.

The problem is, every other team in the league except Anchorage has significant recruiting advantages over MTU. Tech has their own little advantages, and they've made big strides in the facilities area. Nevertheless, at the end of the day they can't make their academic programs easier, bus in more women, or move the campus to Ann Arbor/East Lansing/Madison/etc.

Olson was just booted and decided to vent his frustration on the facilities.

Re: Michigan Tech at Denver - Saturday 2/20/10

Well, there's no reason this shouldn't be about 8-1 Denver, final.

Penalty summary:

Maiani got a facemask
Still confused on the Olson penalty

Royer walked in, and managed to draw a penalty.

Re: Michigan Tech at Denver - Saturday 2/20/10

Cheverie stops Royer.

Hooking against John Lee. We're 4 on 3 in favor of Tech.
