Michigan Tech 2018-19: Who Cares What They Name It, We Want It

Re: Michigan Tech 2018-19: Who Cares What They Name It, We Want It

If anyone is looking for a fairly high end John Scott item to display, I recently received one of his New York Rangers jersey in trade. Since I already have one of his Rangers jerseys I'm putting this one up for sale. I don't believe Scott ever wore this jersey and I think it was simply his back-up should his primary become damaged to the point where it couldn't be worn. I figured I would at least mention it here since Scott is the only former Husky to become the NHL All-Star MVP, just like Wayne Gretzky and may other NHL greats. I think if Scott could have played a thousand more seasons, there was a good chance he could have broken Wayne's scoring record. But now we'll never know, thanks to the Montreal Canadians who derailed his hockey career and turned him into an Internet celebrity, author and full time father. #BlameCanada

That's been the story of many games this season. And I don't see a lot of scoring help in the next two freshmen classes, either, so get ready for some .500 seasons.
Could be, but honestly I think these freshemen will get better at it as time goes by and I'm thinking defensively we will be a lot better, so I think there will a lot of winning. Just my lousy opinion though.

I've been thinking about what is the one characteristic we have that we are really good at and I have it. We are really good at falling down.

Well you don't get better playing teams worse than you. I'm glad we were challenged but it would be nice to make another step forward, yesterday wasn't it. I thought Kero played quite well though.

Re: Michigan Tech 2018-19: Who Cares What They Name It, We Want It

Every team has someone reading these boards. Or someone relays information said on here to the team. There is a reason the WCHA Championship ticket fiasco has such blowback.

And it also goes both ways, there are some here who relay messages from the coaches/athletic departments to fellow fans.

years ago, when Twitch Boy, our poster with outrageous wit and comic humor posted about Don Lucia's hair. At the Blue Line Lunch Lucia stood up and said what's this thing about my hair? so, yes, coaches do read these boards. And someone came up with the NaCHos league and even Mel called them the NaCHos. And yes, sometimes the athletic department will want something leaked and will use a poster they know to let the info out. no news here.

Can you talk my boss into letting me have Thursday and Friday off?

If you can, pick a tavern and the first round is on me.

I’m no doctor, but it sounds like you’ve got a hell of a cough coming on Wednesday.

And my boss knows to look at the Huskies schedule to tell me when I can't call in sick.

This is a very young team and we did lose a lot of great players from last year. I feel very good about our goalie situation, and we have a good young D corp. We are incredibly young on offensive with some of those players flashing signs of being very good.

It is hard to replace the guys that moved on last year.

My concern is are we seeing the growth in players like we saw under Marv? Aside from maybe Lucchini I did not see a tremendous amount of growth among the rest of the upperclassmen. Gould way down, Smith down, Berretta down, Steman down, Jackson down, etc., etc.

Granted some of the young guys had really good years, Halonen, Bliss and Broetzman in particular. The question is will they continue to improve.

I don't know that the defense made any big strides either. Watson whom I thought would be a big force this season has been in and out. Donohue though very good at times seems inconsistent.

I guess time will tell.

This weekend at BGSU will tell us a lot about the character and makeup of this team and the influence of the upperclassmen. Hopefully they rise to the occassion like they did last season!

Go Huskies!

Is it an issue of growth or recruiting players that have reached a peak and hard to grow further.

Good point, not sure how you gauge that one. I just remember the growth of Sturos from his Junior to Senior year; thinking how great is would be if everyone could make that kind of progression during there time at Tech. There were a couple others Vallis, Malcolm Gould, etc. that really came on at the end.

We did see some improvement in a few of the guys down the stretch last year but they had kind of lack luster regular season play. Specifically Lesperance, Auk, Birks, Gilles.

Maybe our upperclassmen will seize the moment in the upcoming playoff run similar to what the guys did last year. Only time will tell.

Go Huskies!

Re: Michigan Tech 2018-19: Who Cares What They Name It, We Want It

In all fairness, this might be the best matchup for Tech of the four possible places to visit in the first round. No team in the WCHA (or most of college hockey for that matter) has shown such ability to lose games that they should absolutely win than BG. The only thing that rivals their inconsistency is the inability of Lake State to win a home game on Saturday (although the one they did was against guess who).

Re: Michigan Tech 2018-19: Who Cares What They Name It, We Want It

It is what it is. Doesn't matter who they are playing or how they played the last few weeks. The boys have progressed as much as they have and that is where we are going into the playoffs. As Joe said on the Joe Show yesterday, it's not about getting better every day now. It's time to get results.

They just need to win twice at Bowling Green this weekend. I don't care who steps up, I don't care who scores, I don't care who is in the net. All I care is that the guys in black score more than the guys in white.

Just win baby!

I like this team.
