Michigan Tech 2018-19: Who Cares What They Name It, We Want It

Re: Michigan Tech 2018-19: Who Cares What They Name It, We Want It

I thought LSSU was one of the best teams we have played. At least first two periods. Third period gave me some hope.

Gotta shoot the puck. On net. Honestly, we miss the net 30 or 40 times a night. LSSU did not block many (we certainly did), but we miss way too much.

We also tend to make one too many passes on the odd man rush. Maybe over time those will connect and score, but right now they are killing the team. Gotta put shots in the net or we will never get an even strength goal.

Re: Michigan Tech 2018-19: Who Cares What They Name It, We Want It

The concern has set in, and now they are getting tense and fancy with the puck. Or overshooting. Or whatever.

Well for two periods we were pretty average but in the third we played well. However once the goalie was pulled we ran around like it was pond hockey. It's still a lot better play than it was at Christmas time. Just keep taking steps towards getting better.

Also i'd not have said what he did to the team after the game.It sounds too much like blaming. It's better imho to be positive and just find something to build on. Everyone knows what has been happening.

I don't know what has been said in the dressing room throughout the year, perhaps he has been positive and building. But at some point you gotta tell it like it is. Building on good points is certainly needed, but if you don't address and eliminate the problems they get worse.

I agree 100%; you've got to take some of the pressure off at some point and just let them play. Coach said that in the pre game but he just can't seem to do it.

Well the first period killed us. We gave the puck away so often etc etc etc.

Lake state defensively was excellent.

Has anyone heard if Russell was indeed injured last night. He was slumped over heading to the bench.

Tech played well this weekend, but it was not enough. I still think there is upswing and need to hit the peak here in next 2 weeks.

He played a couple shifts after taking the hit. Looked more like he was winded. Misiak sat out last night, probably could have gone but they held him out, he's slightly more worrying.

Misiak would be a huge blow. Need everyone healthy and giving 100% for the next two weeks. With a little help from our old friend Damon and his boys next weekend, and taking care of our own business, we can be watching playoff games at the Mac this year.

Re: Michigan Tech 2018-19: Who Cares What They Name It, We Want It

First time we’ve been swept by LSSU since 1983. 2nd year in a row we are going to have less than 20 regular season wins. 2nd year in a row that we likely won’t have home ice for playoffs. Every single returning player is on track to have less points than last year. What has changed? Is Joe Shawhans constant negativity helping or hurting this team?I’m extremely concerned about the direction this program is heading.
I'm not concerned about Joe, his staff or the direction of the program. The look of this team would be a lot different without the early departures the last couple seasons. We all knew it would be a year of retooling.

This team has had a lot of young guys putting in a lot of important minutes during the season. It's time on the water and the team will be stronger for it over the next couple of years. The 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons look like they could be phenomenal.

My concern has been expressed on the Joe Show occasionally and that is that all these talented freshmen and sophomores are getting lazy habits. It is real important that they learn the importance of hard work on and off the ice and develop into the leadership they need from the dressing room. It can't always come from the coach's office.

I like this team.

I agree completely.

Check out the individual +/- and points leaders. I think that explains what is going on with this team.

Hmmm...creating a new account to make one post, then deleting the post...

Gotta be a troll.
