Re: MICHIGAN TECH.... 2016-17 season. The 96th season of Hockey.

Anybody know if there is a streaming option for the GLI? I won't be in any of the areas that carry the Fox Sports regional channels and I wondered if Fox Sports will stream the games on FoxSportsGo. It seems like they should according to their website, but they don't publish a schedule of any kind.

It looks like Fox Sports Go will carry it live, IF you are a cable subscriber.

Re: MICHIGAN TECH.... 2016-17 season. The 96th season of Hockey.

Well there is no one left at Tech (other than staff) from the 2012 GLI championship team, so I say it is time for another generation of Tech hockey players to put their mark on the MacInnes Cup. Hopefully Tech can get the offense rolling to give Beef some support. Tech has played really well since Beef went in the net, but hopefully we don't have to win the rest of our games 1-0 or 2-1 the rest of the season.

Hoisting some hardware would be a nice reward for really turning the season around after a tough start and give the team confidence heading down the stretch. Nothing against WMU (other than they are some sucky nachos) but I would love to see Tech beat Michigan and State for the title. Although I admit that a win over WMU likely helps Tech more down the road when we get to March.

Go Tech!

A little late the the party on this one, been a busy week since this got posted. The latest Recruiting Grounds is out and this time I breakdown the NAHL which has produced a ton of Michigan Tech's fan favorites over the last 25 years:
Recruiting Grounds: NAHL

Good win, but this inability to finish chances, or sustain any success in the power play in recent games, has to end. They haven't scored a PP goal since Nov. 25th against UAF. Unsurprisingly, that was the only game in the last six weeks in which they scored more than 3 goals (and one was a ENG, but still).

They seem to get the puck to the net but need more guys around it

Attendance announced at 12,027. Hopefully moving to the new arena will bring that number up a bit.

Re: MICHIGAN TECH.... 2016-17 season. The 96th season of Hockey.

I did not think the officiating was all that slanted. maybe a little. But we deserved most of what we got. If we had stayed out of the box I think it would have been a bigger score. and watching WMU, they are really good on the pp. I thought we were skating in mud the first period but got more jump as the game went on. I liked how Baretta played, And i'm surprised staman wasn't in the line up.
Also I've been going to the GLi for a really long time and this was the Biggest Tech crowd in 20 years. At least.

I assume Steman isn't ready yet? He hasn't played since at Michigan State.

Anyone know what happen to Reinke? I don't rem her hearing his name after the first period and Leibinger was playing D quite a bit today...

For those who care, MTU, has a chance to possess a 3rd belt tomorrow (Michigan) when they face Western tomorrow. They already possess 2 of the other 3 belts that they can possibly have (WCHA & DII Playup). The only belt not in their possession or on the line tomorrow is the main belt which is currently in the hands of UMD.

Why do you think the crowds have gotten smaller? This tournament use to be a bigger draw years ago. Not so much anymore. Any idea from your prospective?

Well weekdays don't help anything but look at the rest of the tournaments, it's still one of the best attended.
The other tournaments today were <4,000.

Re: MICHIGAN TECH.... 2016-17 season. The 96th season of Hockey.

Assuming Reinke is unavailable as well as Steman, who takes the open fwd spot?
Gould, Anderson, Pedersen, or Brice?
My guess is Gould gets the call for the chance to play in the championship game.
Tech needs Lucchini, Heinonen, L'Esperance, and Jackson to assert themselves and put up points tonight.
Would like to see Smith, Gillies, Gerrie, and Beretta get more chances.

Should be an up tempo game tonight need our big guns to fire tonight.

Reinke was in concussion protocol after the first period. Not sure of his status. Auk had a cut on the bridge of his nose after getting trucked by Lockwood late, he should be OK.

So if we assume Leibinger drops back to D (can't see Killunen coming in) the question is who's in at forward. After seeing Gavin Gould left out at BG with the thinking that it would be too physical against the Falcons, I can't imagine he'd be in against WMU. Steman might be a week away, don't know if they'll rush him back. Maybe it's Anderson who gets the call.

Re: MICHIGAN TECH.... 2016-17 season. The 96th season of Hockey.

Wil be interesting, Coach has been praising all 3 of the reserves, Anderson, Pedersen, and Brice.
My guess is Gould for some scoring punch and prior experience this season.

A little rusty. A little undisciplined. Need to stay out of the box today and do a better job finishing their chances. In the WMU - MSU game all the goals were PP. When even
-up MSU played with them and even controlled play at times. The Huskies can win this thing if they come out and play their game.
