Re: Michigan Tech 2014-2015

since when do we have "friendly intermural chatter" between MTU and NMU? the Gerald Sullivan connection is great, you couldnt get into Tech, that ok, I couldnt either, but to drop in to tell us "Go Bemidji!" - thats over the top!

Huskyfan: "Over the Top", perhaps. "Delusional", probably not. I did get a good enough education at NMU to earn a PhD in health science from the University of Utah. Maybe you're right, and I wouldn't of been able to get into Tech. On second thought, my NMU roommate my junior/senior years was Rich Brown, Tech's 2nd leading scorer on the basketball team his freshman year. He wasn't an Albert Einstein either and he got in. Although he didn't last. I'm not sure why he left. It may have been the rigors of Tech, or maybe Sherman gymnasium, or the 7/1 male/female ratio Tech had at that time (according to the rumors anyway). This sounds like friendly intermural chatter to me. For those Husky fans venturing our way this weekend, enjoy Dave's Pizza and one of our nice lakeside hotels. Sorry about the deep-freeze.

If that's the pizza place I'm thinking of, it sucks.

Shirtless Guy: As a wise man once said, "A succulent repast is in the eye, nostrils, and taste buds of the beholder". Dave's Pizza is a very popular place, especially for the tourists. Alternatives might be the Corner Bar, Keith's Pizza, Tutto Bene, or Sparkling Waters. There's also the chains like Green Mill, Buffalo Wild Wings, etc. The Corner Bar is popular for the drinks and burgers.

Bigblue_dl: Dave's Pizza closes at 11:00 pm Friday and Saturday in November, but may be 9:00 pm in the dead of winter as you unfortunately experienced.

Re: Michigan Tech 2014-2015

Keg n' Cork is pretty good too. You know it's a quality place because they have a positive review from Marilyn Hagerty hanging in the entryway.

Also, I don't know if it's open in the winter, or if you'd ever want to with the weather, but Big River Scoop has very good ice cream.

EDIT: And for the record, I ate at Dave's after a game once and wasn't disappointed.

Re: Michigan Tech 2014-2015

My complaint is with Bigblue, we tried to eat there on suggestion of someone and they closed at 9 on a game night....we had to settle for Applebee's I think because it was the only non-fast food that was open.

Re: Michigan Tech 2014-2015

GAME DAY! Huskies need to bring their best effort yet again this weekend. BSU appears to be a pretty good team and you know every team is going to be giving Tech their best effort for the chance to knock them off their undefeated perch. It would be too ironic if Beavers set a trap that catches the Huskies off their game.
Go Tech!

Re: Michigan Tech 2014-2015

I'm nervous about this weekend. BSU clearly backs away from no one and desperately needs 3-4 points at home to keep pace with the top half.

BSU can score and they are at home. When Tech has stayed within the plan, they've rolled. Last Saturday they lapsed and had some undisciplined moments that reminded me of last year. Hopefully they are focused and Jamie stays solid. Go Tech!!

Re: Michigan Tech 2014-2015

Part of that was UAA's style of play. You can bet the memo on Tech going forward will be to play physical and get them worked up/taking penalties.

Re: Michigan Tech 2014-2015

Please destroy the Beavers. Thank you.

Thanks, its back about a page:
MTU recruit Mitch Reinke was named to the USA roster for World Junior A Challenge, Dec. 14-20 in Saskatchewan.
I'm excited to see an american recruit in this tournament for MTU. We've normally had a couple Canadians and probably should again, but its awesome to see someone on team USA.

Birks, Gillies, Hannoun, and Neville have all played in this tournament.

I would expect Chris Gerrie and Hannoun to have a good chance of making Canada West this year.

I agree, that target on Tech's back is getting pretty big because of the streak. We're going to see teams' best efforts.

I'm worried about this weekend. Hopefully they continue to play well and find a way to keep the streak alive but its going to end at some point and the Beavers in Bemidji has normally not been very good to MTU.

How awesome is it that we are worried about losing instead of winning? I'm still thoroughly confused by all this...

It is extremely confusing to me as well.

In other news, some of you talked about missing some things from THG so instead of doing the linkorama I'm just going to share the link to the google doc I've used to make it over the years which I try to update weekly.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvmgCQqDoSO-dGI0dngtbFNkM0VoNXU1Y21PWDZ5a0E&usp=sharing

Just beware, I haven't finished updating the alumni tab and I haven't done anything with the "other" tab since I stopped doing linkorama

Yes worried, they are no longer a surprise. It's a new step for them, can they win when others know they are good.
