Michigan Tech 2013-2014: Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Realignment

Awwww, too bad, you caught a huge pile of kelp. Try again, skippy!
Kelp - is that what you're calling yourself. I was thinking "sucker" was a better name for someone who'd believe a coach would bench his best player for critical non conf game, which is also the second game of the year. Long span of undiscipline, there.

No, I'm not the one that is duped. You're overthinking this. A coach absolutely would bench his best player if he views it as the best course for the entire team, for the entire season. Is it the best solution for that game? No. Is it the best decision when looking at the season as a whole? You could easily make the argument that it is. It is not our fault that you're not smart enough to figure this out.

Jeff Jackson says his team is all about possessing the puck and drawing penalties. They had 40 shots each night vs wmu. I think we will have to do a real good job of getting turnovers and counter attacking.
They will roll four lines all night as well.

I don't think it was just the end of game skirmish either. Watching on the video feed, we were down a man midway through the third and there was a battle in the corner and you could just tell Blake was frustrated and repeatedly jabbing the UMD guy. It was a dumb penalty, cross checking, and it put us down 5x3. It didn't hurt us, but it was a dumb penalty.

Jake Johnstone will graduate, but not to worry there are 3 more Jakes in the pipeline so Tech will stay fully Jaked.

Linkorama from THG should return later today with updates on recruits.

Not sure what's hard to get here - Mel's pretty clear by the language, "didn't help us at all", that the incident was stupid for both David and Blake and he didn't like it. Decision to keep D. Johnstone out was easy because he may have had concussion symptoms, whereas it's inferred that both would have sat anyway for allowing themselves to engage in the skirmish in the first place.

JSR is correct. there was more to it than "coaches decision". let's just say upper body injury. he'll be ready to go this weekend. in any case, here's to hoping the Huskies come out flying this weekend. I will be in attendance at both games.

Shout out to Shirtless for great job with THG. we are lucky to have a site like this.

Here's the thing. The way in which you worded your posts, implied that you were questioning the coaching staff's decision to sit Blake; not whether Mel may have been telling a little white lie to try and prevent ND from knowing Blake may have been injured.

So no, it doesn't "hurt" in the slightest. And you're still a troll. :)

That's some pretty good spin, like 180 degrees. "Sucker" also seems to be a pretty good name for someone who until they were just proven wrong, would have never believed their coach may be using some creative wording to mislead; I wouldn't say he lied at at all - he never once said he sat him out for disciplinary reasons- by your own statement, that was inferred by you.

First of all, I never used the words "kelp" or "sucker" to describe you, that's all between bb_dl and you. "Long span of undiscipline, there" was read by me as derogatory sarcasm for failure to play Blake due to unruly play. I realize that Internet context is hard, but your statements could use it. Perhaps mentioning that you suspected Blake could have been injured would go a long way. Just saying.

For any fans making the trek south to South Bend, might I suggest a few great local spots for grub and suds? Fiddler's Hearth downtown on Main serves a great Irish stew and they pour a gold-star Guinness, Polito's Pizza on Hickory serves great NY-style pizza and Nick's Patio on Ironwood has good, cheap breakfast 24/7. All are within about 5 minutes of the rink/campus. I would also suggest being on campus to tailgate Saturday solely to watch the band march in. Safe travels and stop by to say, "Hey." At the rink, I sit above the tunnel where ND comes out.

Spin? Sucker? Try again. You're making a fool out of yourself, AGAIN!

So apparently the NMU/MTU series will resemble NYR/BOS. NMU unveiled their new home jerseys and they're very Ranger-esque.
