Michigan Tech 2012-13 Season II - Beware of Huskies in the Spoiler Role...

Re: Michigan Tech 2012-13 Season II - Beware of Huskies in the Spoiler Role...

Well another season is over, lots of positives to look at the last two years and lots of changes for the program with conference reshuffling. Can't wait to see what the 2013-14 season has to offer.

Hats off to Tech for a tough weekend... outplayed UND for huge stretches of fri. and sat. Best of luck to Tech in the new WCHA.

:(

Sad panda, especially since we out played them on Friday night. Losing a lot of good players, I know it wasn't a failure of a season but I certainly had higher expectations for this team than the delivered. Again, definitely good times, winning the GLI was AMAZING, I don't care if U of M and MSU were having down years, we still won. Overall it still feels like a step backward from last season though. I am looking forward to next year, I definitely think we can make some noise in the new WCHA alignment and I hope we do.

Overall I'd say it was a good season, can't forget we won 4 games two season ago

Mel has us going in the right direction

Mel's postgame thoughts - took awhile for him to get up to talk to Dirk:
They were ready to play, maybe more than us, had an extra step than us from the get go
They simplified the game, they wanted to get it in and get pucks to the net
Not to make excuses, but 3 games in 3 nights is tought, they took it to us tonight, there's a reason they're going to 11 straight Final Fives
Obviously we miss D. Johnstone, don't have enough depth to not feel losing him, we did find a way last night
Made some mistakes, didn't manage the puck, passed it right in the slot to their guy, can't do that on the road
Really proud of our guys, dont a lotof things, tought night to look at all the accomplishments, but our program is growing
We'd liek to become them in a lot of ways, not all, but their winning ways, their seniors
We talked about playing for themselves and representing the university playign in the 3rd, score doesn't indicate the game, Saunders was unbelievable
On the other end, gave them 2 easy scoring chances, have to get better at defense
It was a weird 1st period, not many Grade A shots, not many attempts, felt OK getting through period, down 1-0, wanted to regroup, worst period in a long time
We're just weren't ready to play, Mel takes responsability, thought in 2nd we'd get a good push, right away, caught with a F back on D, and they score
On Tech Seniors - asked them if they left the program in better shape than when they came in, without a doubt they did, accomplished a lot
How quickly think abotu next season? Start tonight, we have to get better, told our assitants coaches, Mel's not satisfied, not good enough, have to work harder than anyone else to get young men to come in and help turn this program around.
Already talked today abotu recruiting and kids we have to get after, it never stops,
Mel likes our future, can hardly until their seniors like the Kristos, Knight etc
We have a good plan in place, future looks bright, Thanks to the fans, sorry we couldn't pull this off tonight for our fans, we'll work our rear ends off to improve this program
